I would like to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
I would also like to say thank you to everyone who has given me support during this year. This year has been my best yet since I got ill, I can do so many more things and now have the confidence within myself to not use alcohol as a coping mechanism to the extent I did when I was using heavily every day.

Thanks for your post Geri, I hope you had a good Christmas too.
Mine went ok, but as usual my dad had me in tears at the start of Christmas day, he was really horrible, but I knew that he didn't have a clue what he said to me was so hurtful and as usual I just kept it to myself so I didn't ruin the rest of the day. I had got him a book of Natural History of the British Isles and he really liked that so that made me feel a bit better.
I've been really good with the alcohol thing actually, there's been a lot of it about coz my sister had come down to spend Christmas with us and she drinks like a fish. But I haven't over indulged, I've been in control of it, rather than it controlling me.
I'm gonna try in the New Year (again) to keep drinking alcohol to a minimum so that is kind of my New Years resolution, but as I know from past experience and the way I am with my illness, not to put silly pressures on myself. But I do plan to stop smoking!!
Also, thank you to everyone who prayed for my friend. I have to get back in touch with her so I really don't know how she is as she lives quite far from me.

( Zac- I got my boy loads of stinky tripe treats for Christmas! He loves them but they smell awful! Don't know if you have ever smelled Sileage ( pickled grass that farmers feed to their cows) they smell just like that - GROSS!! )

I bet freddie loved em and yeah i know the smell of sileage it used to smell nice compared to me in my drinkng days,
With family it can be hard that is why in recovery it is referred to as breaking the cycle because sometimes the years goe by but the same old sh@t goes round and round in our lives till we look at breaking the cycle and the routines that we know will happen year in year out in our familys.
Addictions love these cycles because i was so busy pedalling i forgot to look at life that was passing me by..then one day god put a stick in the front wheel and i came a gutsa and when i picked myself up and dusted the dirt off i could see clearly all that i have missed out on.
