The fact that I am struggling with this question actually makes me sick to my stomach. Only a family member dealing with addiction truly understands this feeling.
The fast and dirty part of this story is this... my 19 year old son is on methadone for a opiate addiction. We are in Canada so he is in another province from me. He is working but his living situation has been rocky at best for the last yr. In the last week he as just snapped. Crying non stop unable to cope with the smallest task and everything that could go wrong has! Including his friend oded in his arms last night. My question is this. I feel it's time to step in. I'm afraid of bringing him home and going back where we were however I think he is having a breakdown and am concerned how much more he can take on his own. He is clean as far as I know from opiates and remains on methadone. A friends mom has given him adivan and i know he is popping these like tick tacks to cope.
Do I fly there and bring him home?

I honestly wouldn't know what to do in your shoes. I am going through the same thing or went through it The crying and then getting very angry when you say no. If there is someone you can talk to a professional on what is best for you and your son. I had to completely cut ties with mine. He is 34 and homeless, current status back in hospital. I have no idea why and afraid to find out. But he is safe and getting fed and clean. I hope someone that is outside our family can make him see what he is doing to himself. I know I can't reason with him.
Good luck I feel your pain, x
