Was anyone here prescribed anti anxiety tablets when they came off the booze? I'm finding the withdrawal extremely stressful... so much so I had to go out tonight and get a couple of bottles of wine... I hate myself so much coz I can't get a grip on this! I am seeing the Hospital on Monday...
Have to wait and see...

Hey Iz...sorry you are going through this right now. When I was hospitalized for pancreatitus several times they always gave me Ativan...which by the way is addicting so I was never quite sure what the thought was behind that. It did work though but then I found myself wanting more Ativan. Don't worry pal....it will get better. Sometimes it takes people a couple or more tries before they can do it. Everyone is different yet everyone is exactly the same. Does that make sense???
Izzy I have been around many alcoholics. Its tough man.
If you are so anxious that your having panic attacks ?? then maybe a short term cycle of a long lasting benzo like klonopin may help.
Prefer you try exercise deep breathing diet-etc.
But if you trust your doctor? and the quality of your life is really poor maybe a short term cycle to get you back on track is needed. But Izzy these benzos are very addictive.
Last resort.
Good luck--Jeff

I detoxed and went thru withdrawals at my sister's house...tapered down with a six pack of beer for a couple of days and then did not drink on 22 November 2003 and haven't picked up a drink since the 21st of November 2003...the Doctor told my sister to let me drink a little, although I knew I was done...they didn't want me to go thru seizures. I got to the Doctor on Monday and was given about 6 Librium that first day ~ had to check in with the Doctor everyday for about a week and she tapered me down off the Librium for that first week and then none after that....even though I asked for more, the addict in me ya know....take care of yourself Izzy, it took me about three days to get thru the very worst part and awhile to start sleeping again and feeling better...hang in there!
Hey Izzy don't beat yourself up , usually i bet you would of got hamered and let the world know about it, you got a couple of bottles and coped with it as best as the situation called for. Remember all the little things that piss you off when drinking can become big things when trying to stop, so keep posting more as its better to deal with the cravings by posting than by sitting alone with addictive thoughts that grow in stature every second. Hang in there Izzy the journey is beginning and all the best for your appointments.
