While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean. Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. I am willing, he said. Be clean! And immediately the leprosy left him. Luke 5:12-13
It seems to me that those of us who have struggled, and still do, with our opiate addictions can learn from this poor man with the skin disease who came to Jesus Christ! How we also need to be clean! What a necessity it was for him, and what a necessity it is for us! Notice the great compassion and love that Jesus had for him. I believe He is the same today for each of us who come to him. The poor man with leprosy earnestly and sincerely asked him for cleansing. How willing Christ was, and is today, to provide it!
Dear people on this board let us be clean today. What joy there is in it! I hope we also remember that there is help available if we turn in faith to the one who is willing and has power to help. Peace to all.
