Last week as I sat on the beach a friend joined me. She had just passed through town and saw ambulances, EMTs, the whole works in town - just half a mile from my house. Said that a 24 year old man was unresponsive...mentioned his name but mispronounced it so I didn't connect with it. Looked in the papers and online and saw nothing...told my daughter the next day and mispronounced the name myself, so she didn't connect either. That night she went to a meeting and texted me, "That was Nick M****, K's ex-boyfriend, he was shooting H. He's dead."
Some of you may remeber that I posted last November about a 20 year old friend of DD's that had died of meningitis contracted after a tongue piercing...now the boyfriend who took her to the hospital is dead, too. A year ago these were two young people in love, living together, having some fun...now both are gone...just like that
People, this is a small beach community surrounded by other small shore towns...not some rollicking city. Everyone pictures tenements and dark alleys when they think of H...no one pictures pretty homes and two-parent families...wake up call y'all...it's everywhere. A friend with kids in the high school here said H is all over...it's so cheap...and what the hell are the local cops doing about it....nada. And where's it coming from? Why, the city in which I work. Doesn't get any better than that...
Count those blessings...every day we wake up on the right side of the grass is a small victory and a new beginning...if we want it.

Heroin adddiction is the most situation to leval all of society.........over here in Ireland the most o.d,s happen firstly when someone has just got out of prison and also at Christmastime when those on social benefit get a double week giving them xtra funds to score gear...........sad but true .Personally ive o.d bout 4times......luckily mates were abiout but once my Ma had to call the ambo.She beggged me to save myself but did i listen to her at the time NOPE......once over the shock i was back to putting smack into my self.......im a very lucky guy .....my bro died in 98 of a polydrug o.d alcohol and metadone ....i gave hime the metadone .....which haunts me to this day as he wasnt a opiate user.Sorry for the ramble but anyone passing away due to opiates always tears at my heartstring......me&my bro were 18mnths apart more like twins......we had a bond that surpassed anything.....ive ever experienced now or ever.Gotta go Sian is here ............sorry for all the losses ./............Davey
We all know (unfortunately) of young people who have died due to drugs. But this does not stop anyone from using or even wanting to use. I guess I don't understand and never will, but I will offer up a prayer for all those people who have died (and those still living and using) this horrible drug. Help us all, to get away from this life, and to help others along the way.

On the subject of ODing, how's this for a laugh...my daughter told me she was "too smart" to OD - HAHAHAHA! Sounds like "I'm special" syndrome...the only smart addict int the world...as if everyone who uses is her intellectual inferior. Very grown-up, no? She didn't even know why she was coughing...didn't know that opiates suppress reaspiratory function...oh yes, definitely too smart.

ALTHOUGH i see myself no better than any other drug user im just oh so glad that i never ever went down the I.V road,just today i saw a young fiend of mine and what a state he was in,felt sad and a bit scared for him.Ive even spoke to him about it but obviously to no avail,also,the stuff they r,were?getting was conjealing so they r hitting it b4 it gets the chance to conjeal,i think,believe this makes it conjeal inside them leading to clots etc..Hows that for madness,i may be wrong with some of this only because i can only go on what people tell me about it...ANYWAY,take care....ECK
