Anyone Ever Hear Of Jack Whitacker?

Jack Whitacker is the man who won the biggest lottery amount in history. It was about 3 years ago. He won something like 350 million dollars. I happen to live in the same area as him and had even bought lottery tickets at the same place he bought the winning ticket. It was big news around here. Anyway, he had a nice family and was well respected in this community. He and his wife had custody of their grand-daughter, Brandy, who was 15 when Jack won the lottery. Brandy started partying a lot and a little over a year later, she went missing. A few days later her body was dumped in the driveway of her grand-parents house. She died of an overdose. She was only 17. It just goes to show that money can't buy happiness or fix all problems. Sometimes, it can even create problems.
I have followed his story on the news. He is also an alcoholic. Has been arrested for DUI 2 times since hitting the jackpot, and other arrests too I believe. It is a very sad story about his granddaughter. He did donate alot of his money to churches and charities. I think his heart is in the right place, but is struggling with alcoholism. And money cannot buy happiness. I grew up poor and now I have more than I need and believe me, I'm not always very happy.
It is only so true, isn't it?
I know for me, the happiest days of my life weren't when I was broke, but then they weren't when I was doing well either.
I think some of my best days were in the mid-80s, when I was going to college and just had job at a gas station, working at my Dad's mine and was travelling back and forth to the university.
My parents were alive and I felt like I was really accomplishing something.
I also really enjoyed my marriage before.............OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHEW! I almost started down THAT road again!! LOL
Anyway, it's true. How much money you have really doesn't effect your overall happiness.

Michelle,
I read that story in the Washington Post Magazine, every person that the money touched lives turned to poop. His, his grandaughter, the grandaughters friendds, the waitress that he gave money to, his marriage, just about the whole town was damaged. It really was a very interesting story.
Hi there,

ANYONE THAT SAYS MONEY CANT BUY HAPPINESS HASNT BEEN SHOPPING WITH ME..!!!!

Thats a joke...just trying to lighten it up...lolol

That is a sad sad story...I bet hed trade all his money..every cent to have his

grand-daughter back...
