I've never posted on this board before because I've never done heroin. My DOC is lortabs. Over on the pill board I posted a question, and most people suggested I post it on this board instead.
After about 4 years of being addicted to lortabs, my psychiatrist told me I should go through the methadone clinic to get off the pills. I now think that was the worst advise I've ever been given in my life. At the time I thought it was a good idea. I had never even heard of methadone until my Dr. suggested it. Anyway, I was on it for about 2 years. The first year I went up to 90mg. I spent the second year weaning off it at 2 or 3mg per week. I've been completely off it since the first of September. Since then I have gotten better but still have one problem. My legs are always either itchy or really sensitive to anything that touches them. I don't know if this has anything to do with methadone or if it's a completely different problem. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks.

I to regreted getting on methadone because it was like putting plaster over a severed head. I also went up as high as 90mgs before detoxing and yes for the first year after kicking, my left leg felt empty and sensitive. These are the results of opiate addiction. They will disipate on there own time. You also may have restless legs syndrome(go to ask.com and give it a look up).
I was on for 8 months toping off at 130mg. I hated going to the clinic. At 130mg I started to have blood in my urine. I had sleepless-ness and muscle pain for about 17 days after stoping. My teeth use to even hurt, and there is nothing wrong with them. I decided at about 5 months there was no way I was going to keep going for years. The lines to dose were OFTEN a hour long OR more.I live in Ohio I had to go two states away to get into a clinic in Indiana. I detoxed fast at 10mg a week "againist counsler's advice". I was more emotional and ill detoxing then I was using. I know I could have spared myself some pain by going down slower. I don't regret going it helped me get clean. It's not a ez fix it's a drug, it has many DRAWBACKS. Leg pain is very common with opiate addiction.
I allways rember having leg pain as a kid and i was diagnosed w/ arthritis. But after getting clean the pain in my legs is much worse my family tells me it is the arthritis but i know it's a concequence of the damage i did to my body for 3 years i have been clean for 6 months and my legs are allways uncomfrotable and my knees allways hurt i'm not shure if it will get any better but i'll take it over the hell of using.
i have never, but my boyfriend is on it now. he had trouble with his hands hurting him.but we have a bigger problem, in bed ! for a while i did know and thought it was me. then he tells me its from the addiction and the methdone, there's so much i dont know!! and learning as you go ....sucks !!!!
