Hi-
I am currently on my second day with no pain pills after relapsing a few times. I and have been taking xanxax or ativan for about a year now, except for after I got out of rehab (was clean for about a month of everything). NOw I am not going to try to stop the benzos right now along with the pain pills. But I wanted your advice on how to taper down after I am done with the withdrawls from the pain pills. I usually take approx 1.5-2.5mgs a day (usually at night). So any advice on this is appreciated as you seem to be experienced at this.
Stardust... Hate to but in on your thread to Kaela.. But someone that is really knows alot about tapering off of benzo's, which I know you probably know that is what you are taking is Elvis.. I know if you start a new post to her on here or on the other prescription board she will be glad to help you anyway she can.. another on is Bullwinkle.. but have not seen him around here in a while anyway thought you might like to know that Good luck to you and you will be in my prayers...
Thanks for the advice!!! Have a great night!
Your Welcome Stardust,, Also I meant to also say I am sure there are some others on here that have been on benzo's, and will be so glad to help you but you may need to post a new topic and just tell them you need help with benzo's.. I really wish I could help you Good Luck
Hey Stardust:
The first thing I would like you to do is go to www.benzos.org and go to the taper schedule. Take a look at that and tell me what you like and dont like about it.
Then, we can get you on a safer taper than I was on. I went too fast, this isnt a foot race. We will go much slower.
I would love to help you. I feel like I owe it to so many people to help them get clean. Thank you for reaching out to me so I may pay back a little of what I have been given.
We can and Will do this... *takes you by the hand*

Thanks so much Kaela. I appreciate the support. I am going away today for a few days, but when I get back we will talk about the plan. Thanks again, have a great day!
We will be here when you're ready. Enjoy your trip!
I'll try, but going through withdrawls in the car will not be fun!
You realize that is you have stopped xanax cold turkey you could have seizures and even worse, a stroke?
Neither is good when behind the wheel.

While Kaela has had great success with this, she's not a dr (and never pretended to be one), so if you feel yourself getting into trouble with any of this, get your butt to an ER or dr. Benzo w/d is not anything to mess with.
Take care

Amen Cowgirl!
Benzo withdrawal is very serious and dangerous. And I was successful because I was scared to take it and scared not to. I have no special secret but I know I beat it and hope to help others.
I would NEVER recommend a taper such as what I did, please know that ya'll. I know I went too fast... way too fast. I would NEVER give my taper to another person. That was my addiction, my taper, my speed. I wouldnt EVER put that much pressure on anyone.
What I can do is relate to the withdrawals and support people on their taper, as I do Elvis for example. She likes it nice and slow, which is good and safe. I like a good challenge and I am one to push the envelope so I tapered in 7 weeks. To me, the sooner the better. Others arent wired like me... I understand that.
Thank you for addressing this Cowgirl. I wouldnt want anyone thinking I was pushing my taper on anyone. I wouldnt even suggest my taper to ayone. To do so would be unfair. To expect that from myself was unfair but I wanted it soooo badly and I have very little patience.

Thanks for the advice again. Don't worry I am not starting to taper or going cold turkey from the benzos, I have to take care of one thing at a time. Right now I am dealing with getting off the pain pills. I made it safely to my destination, and thankfully the car ride wasn't as bad as I thought. I will definetely start figuring out my plan of action with the benzos when I get back. Thanks again, just wanted to let you know I wasn't doing this yet.
