C - How ya doing? Did you have a nice long weekend? It went by pretty quickly, but not as quickly as it would have had I been drinking myself into oblivion and blacking out and coming to, the vicious cycle that I engage in when I am out there. Nope, I didn't find it necessary to drink or use this long Holiday weekend and for that I am grateful!

Iv'e been working my butt off this past Memorial weekend....I'm in the furniture business and it was a big weekend for us.
But I have the next 2 days off and I'm going to enjoy them. My fiance (thats the 1st time Iv'e called him that here :-) and I are going to the zoo tomarrow and then maybe go swimming.....Good sober stuff!!
I'm trying to catch up on the posts...lots of activity...yours is the 1st one I saw.
I loved the pics of you and your sister ....its so cool ya'll are both sober....my cousin got me sober and I love hanging out with her @ family events!

Glad to hear from you. I'm glad you have a couple of days off. Just wanted to say a hello. I'm kinda tired today, went back to work after five days off, attended the Tuesday night Commuter meeting...and my youngest is sick! But, I'm sober and like Bob says all the rest is just BS.

Hey everybody!
My fiance and I went to the zoo today, then we went to the animal shelter and are in the process of adopting a kitty. He's a grey persian...poor thing someone abandoned him, he was transfered from animal control...he's sooo skinny. So, hopefully everything will work out and we can get him next Friday. Such a sweet thing.
I love that we can give him a loving home, he just needs the mats taken out of his fur and a whole lot of TLC and a good diet....he should be beautiful!
But it was such a good sober day.... one of the best in a while....great way to reguvenate the spirit.

Oh Avondale girl - I love cats - I wish you would post a photo when your new addition is all happy again.
I adopted my cat from a shelter too - he is a purebred who had been neglectd by previous owner- well he has fallen truly on his feet now.
he's a Oriental - blue called Ming. I love persians too but I'm allergic so can only have a short-haired cat in the house.
I'm so glad you're giving that sweet little cat a new home - he/she will reward you with so much love and probably the occasional bite, scratch or dirty look as cats tend to do to those they love. LOL

Yeah, persians are supposed to have great temperments.
I also have a 10 yr old russian blue who is sweet as pie, but has been queen of the castle her whole life. I"m a bit worried about the "getting aquainted" process, but I have been doing lots of research on the subject....we have a large place, with lots of doors to close off sections of the apt, so it will just take time and love,tolerance and loads of patience!!
Its so cool, before when I was drinking, I wouldn't have wanted to take the time to aclimate (sp) a new pet.....now that I 'm sober, I'm a much better pet owner too!
The gifts of sobriety are far reaching to all that enter our lives....I will post a pic when he gets settled!

Girls, I adopted our cat from the local Shelter too...my youngest daughter's Therapist suggested we get one to keep her company since her and her sister were no longer living together. We got a black short-hair and named her Shiba. She is going to be two years old and she is so smart and I'm not just saying that, we call her a dog-kitty, cause she has some dog-like tendencies, too funny isn't it...when I was drinking and using I couldn't even stand myself, much less anybody else, or animals....my Sponsor was glad when we got her, she thought it would help me learn compassion and caring, which it has...not to mention my daughter just loves her!
