Hey all my name is Anne I have been addicted to codeine for 7 years an I can't beat this horrible drug. I last Like 2 weeks without codeine and then go back to the chemist and get more. When I have a packed of codeine I take it daily and can't not take it if it's there. I need help I don't know what to do anymore it's controlling my life and I worry what it's doing to my body. Please help!!!!!!!
hi their i no how your feeling i have been a addict also for 7 years, i use to be on tramadol i came off them & was then given codeine now im on just codeine but im taking more than the daily limits aloud & more than what i can sometimes get my hands on. i have been to every hospital, every walk in clinic, every doctors, just to get this medication and now even online buying it i take 120mg 3 times a day thats 360mg and my doctor prescribes me 15mg 8 daily. i have tried to come off it but the withdrawels are so bad!! restless legs, cant function, cant sleep, cramps, sickness, diheriea its awful, i cant function or go places without it, i get my script in the morning but for now i have none and thats bad for me so taken 20 co-codimol for now thats 30mg/500mg im hoping its going to take the edge off until 8am when chemist opens... just wish i could come off these need some help...!! im only 26 years old.
hi Keeley, i am addicted to codeine and tramadol i am now 20+ days clean - it aint easy- i did it cold turkey, i wouldnt recomend it, my doc read me the riot act when i went to her after 10 days WD's. you can either taper of it or get your doc to prescribe somthing for you to help with the WD's- unfortunately there is no eay way off these drugs. both Tramadol and Codiene WD's are rough- i de-toxed from alcohol many times (yea im an alcoholic as well- no point in doing it by halves) and it was nothing as sever as the WD's from the drugs- but i can tell you honestly now though it was a bad couple of weeks it was worth it- i actually now feel alive rather than numb and dead to all feelings- talk to a doc, get all the help you can- maybe consider going to NA and keep reaching out- i found this site really helpful when i am strugling- some great people on it- anyway i wish you the best of luck with it-
