I just found a lump in my breast. This really sucks because I don't have health insurance so I don't have a primary doctor. The lump is real tiny. I may just keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't grow. But if it does, what can I do without health insurance? This is making me nervous because cancer runs high on both sides of my family.
If you can all just pray it's nothing I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
Love,
Liz
Liz,
I always keep you in my thoughts and prayers. You could go to the health dept in your area and tell them about it. Either that or you could just walk in the ER and tell them. They may run some tests there if you tell them it is causing you pain. I don't know just a thought! I have a few lumps and so does my mom and they are not cancer. Some woman just get them from time to time. Let's hope and pray it is nothing serious. Take care Liz. I am signing off now but will be on later. Love Rae

Thanks Rae,
Yeah, I'll just keep a watch on it and not worry too much about it right now. If it gets bigger I will go to the er.

liz,
i am sending out some prayers as well, also if you go to your local hospital you might wanna check i know where i live they will automatically apply you for state funded health care there when you are seen. just a thought. better safe then sorry, you can always make them payments of 10 bucks a month as long as you give them something. what can they do? throw your money back at you?

Okay, before you freak out...I have found many a lump and had 3 benign tumors(fibroadenimas) removed...does it feel moveable, like amrble or is it hard and rigid? Most breast lumps are benign...it may be a cyst...PLEASE, don't panic..that is advice from a professional "panicker"(word?) Just have it looked at..I just had an ultrasound fot 3 small lumps in my breast and I was scared...the sonogram has to be done every 6 months to make sure they do not grow...they look like small fibroadenomas.Look at it this way...if it IS something bad(unlikely) you will get rid of it, be treated, and be fine. I know how scary it is, I'm not making light of it...I'm here if you need me....Sharonn
Hey Liz,
I am sending prayers.....
Now with your family history you can't wait, doesn't matter how small it is you got to go and get it checked out. Call around to clinics, they do mammo's for free in many cases. Don't think because you don't have insurance that they will not treat you.....In many cases most hospitals are prepared for this, even clinics, and will work with you on getting aid of some sort to cover the bills.....
This is important no playing around with this, ok.....
Love,
Tina
I will check out some places on here later and see if I can find info on mammo's. I know that there is a program for uninsured or low income women to get them for free, or on a sliding scale......Not sure if it is federal, but in NJ they have something......

Hey Molly,
Yeah, cancer runs high in my family. On both of my parents side. My mothers parents died from cancer. Sister had a hysterectomy due to cancer and my father just battled cancer two years ago. My aunt has breast cancer(my fathers sister). Just seems like everyone in my family has cancer.
What made me check was a friend of mine. I never did breast exams. She was telling me it's very important to. Well, So thought I would and I came acrossed that little lump. It's real small right now. Feels like the size of a pimple really. So, for now I won't worry about it and just keep a watch on it. Thanks Molly. If it grows I'll have it checked.
Love,
Liz

Thanks everybody.
Ok, Yeah, maybe I should just get it checked if I can. I'll call around tomorrow and see where I can go for a mammogram. I'm due for one anyway, being I'm 39 years old and never had one. Thanks for the prayers.

Liz, Go get it checked somewhere.. Breast cancer has a very high survival rate if caught early. Your health is priceless. Not to scare you, but if the lump feels hard (like a tiny rock) and doesn't move when you apply pressure, go immediatly! It could still be nothing, but don't guess or wait. If it feels movable and softer than a rock it is probably not serious, but please get it checked right away. I will be praying for you. Take care, Atlas
Liz, don't play around with this. Go to the nearest hospital and get it checked out. They can't refuse to treat you and since you have no income you should be eligible for indigent care. Which means, they will write your bill off of the books and you will not have to pay a thing for your treatment since you have no means to pay for health care. Don't fool around with lumps in the breast, it is not worth it and breast cancer can spread very quickly. You are in my prayers.
Liz
1. If the lump is benign, it is benign.
2. If the lump is cancer, it is cancer. It won't get better by waiting but it will get worse.
Whatever it is, the only option is to get it checked now. If it is nothing, you will know and stop worrying. If it is something you can get it treated early and then not have to worry about it.
Either way, waiting is the wrong thing to do.
Go to a Dr and have the lump checked. Don't self diagnose.
I hope you will forgive me for being so direct

Hey Pam and Alas,
I will make calls tomorrow and see where I can get a mamogram. I rather go that route if I can instead of going to the er. But if I have to go to the er I will. Thanks everybody.

Hey Sean,
That's ok, Thanks for posting. I will get it checked. I guess the biggest fear is finding out it is cancer. But not doing anything isn't going to make it go away. So, tomorrow I will make some calls and have it checked out. Ok, I also have to get passed the fear of doctors. Haven't been to one for 11 years. It's time I guess.
Love,
Liz

Liz, shame on you for not going to the doctor for eleven years. Girl, I am a surviving cancer patient. I had cancer when i was 29 years old. Yeah, and cancer does not run in my family, well, I guess it does now. lol...
Remember, this is the week of Thanksgiving and getting into see a doctor during this week may be impossible. Please get in to see someone this week if not tomorrow. Don't worry about it if you have to go to the ER. Hey, your life is more important than anything else. Take Care...

Dear Liz,
Look into free clinics and research every source of information in your area you can find. You can't let this go, it's too important. Please let us know how you are.

Liz, I'm praying for you too. I had one..turned out to be fibroid cyst..it grew HUGE and they said, it will shrink..and it did. Yet you need to check it to make sure, especially with your family history. There must be a free health clinic in your area..please call them ASAP.
Dear Liz:
I hope you are able to get checked as soon as possible. I will be thinking of you
and saying prayers that this will not be serious.
My Thoughts and Prayers,
Love, Jean

Hey Liz, pass the Cymbalta. LOL... I never made it to the store to pick mine up. Chit, I hope I don't have a headache tomorrow.
Really, I wanted to ask you something but don't want to embarass you on this board. It has to do with the lump in your breast. I am getting ready to sling an email your way. Be looking for it and if you don't get it soon, let me know.
