Today's my 2nd day of my 2nd try at taking this stuff. I am so sick! Waves of nausea, hot flashes, head spinning, etc.........
Have any of you experienced this? Maybe I'm not meant to use this, huh?
I won't be taking it again, that's for sure.
The first time I had good experience with Chantix and had two months off smoking all togeather. It felt good to feel some success at this overwhelming task of quitting smoking. I am not sure the reasons as I look back that I threw it all away but I did.
The second time I felt like a rubber band was on my head for about two hours after I took it and I was icredibly dizzy. I hated it and only managed four days on it. Then I just did my taper plan. Then I blew that too.
I am sticking with the frame of mind of quitting but honestly I get very frustrated at the idea. It is HUGE to think of it. I do my best when I attack it a day at a time. But just as with any addiction you let two or three days attack you at a time and you are right back to square one.
Good luck with Chantix. If you can hack it give it a week or so. It seems like my first try I felt better after it had regulated in my system. Keep posting keep trying. I am going to as well. :) and of course our Hero Kat who is up around 60 days? IS that right KAT?

I think after the first week the nausea and most side effects diminished. Make sure you eat before taking them.
Sure enough, about an hour after I wrote this yesterday, the nausea subsided. And even though it was only day 2, I smoked less all day just having it in my system.
So, I just took another one! But, I haven't eaten so am going to do that now.
Thanks girls! I AM going to do this. I have an appt. next Monday with an internist for a full physical. If I get a clean bill of health, which I doubt, I am going to show my appreciation to God by stopping this stupid habit once and for all.
Carol. GREAT!! way to hang in there.
I took my Wellbutrin today as well. Still smoking as well.

OMG Carol! Never take chantix on an empty stomach!
Let me remind you that Chantix has been shown to increase suicidal tendencies in young adults and has proven to have serious side effects. Before taking it make sure you speak with your doctor and be very carefull with it. I once took it and it made gave me no results. In the end you still have to overcome that urge to smoke on your own. It does seem to minimize withdrawal effects a bit, but quiting is still up to you and you alone.
Just some facts people should know:
July 1, 2009
"The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today announced that it is requiring manufacturers to put a Boxed Warning on the prescribing information for the smoking cessation drugs Chantix (varenicline) and Zyban (bupropion). The warning will highlight the risk of serious mental health events including changes in behavior, depressed mood, hostility, and suicidal thoughts when taking these drugs."
