Come And Knock On My Door Addicts

It's all about the drugs........right?

Lucky I'm always home cause my mom I was just gonna well I'll put it this way.

Ya got a security door like fort knox...........ya have mad mountains of protection as in push your way in my house ya ain't walking out.......and ya want a dog........a big dog........a German Shep........well ya need it.

Bang, bang on my door I hear.........she opens the inside door and I hear her talking through it...........our door is very ornate and hard to find a place to knock.........you KNOW us ya know where and how to knock........and know my doorbell is brokened...........I don't know this knock.

I come down cause this conversation is lasting too long and ain't nobody else in here.........so it's nobody we know.........I come down and my door is OPEN.
My mom has the outside security door open and on my steps is a dude......he's looking at the window..........she asks for an estimate..........he's himen and hawing.............stranger!

My fist instinct is to say "Scram, beat it, hit the road".........as he's still thinking about a price.........I say "Who is that? Shut the door"........oh it's a guy saying the window needs to get painted and aluminumed and calked.......hear him say
"Ummmmmmm, about $125.00"...........from the inside I say "Just give him the money now so he can score. Ask him where his truck is and does he have a card?"..........look I hate to be judgmental, but the simple truth is I got high with people do this, and I look right at him.........he looks at me........suddenly his truck broke down and him and his wife work together.

I go just leave her a card then, O.K...........his price goes down.......I say "Sorry nothing against your price, but my husband is a cop on the night shift and he's sleeping and ya woke him up".................he says "Oh, O.K. I'll come back with a card for ya".............I say "Fine, do that and drop it in the mail slot".

Ain't this MOFO up over in my elderly neighbors house........SHE LEFT HIM IN!
That ain't my business, BUT the guy needed the money to get high......he'd need a small up front.........I say "Mom, are ya outta your mind? You know better than to open the door on a stranger like that".

Point being drugs can make ya do all kinds of crazy things.........all kinds and letting him think a cop still lives here will help if he comes back at night to break in...........I mean I got that covered, but still save me some explaing when I kill somebody coming in my window.

Please as many times as we tell older people to be care ful they just won't and my mom being married to a cop alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll them years knows better.
Let our loved ones know not to be answering no door for nobody.
Hi Bryn, Good for you being home and so feisty!!
Here in florida, with all the elderly people, there are so many scam artists going around offering services like that. especially after the hurricanes, we had all kinds of men offering to cut trees, clean debis, etc. some of course were legit, some not.
Usually when I'm home alone and the doorbell rings, if I see a person I don't know, I usually go to the door with the phone in my hand and act as if I was talking to someone before the bell rang. Probably doesn't fool anyone, but I feel better lol
We live in a very nice family neighborhood, but just a few streets away an elderly woman was killed in her own kitchen, and no one has been caught, so bad things can happen anywhere.

When I see a homeless person on the street corner with a sign asking for help, I always give him a few dollars, I know he will probably get a drink or something else with it, but I figure if he is so desperate as to ask, how can I refuse?
that's different from these guys who want to rip off someone with phony promises of work. Probably convoluted logic, but what the heck, it's my kind of logic. ( I guess I really am an enabler, but I feel so guilty when I'm sitting in my air conditioned car with money in my wallet, and someone else is standing in the heat, with nothing but the clothes on his back)

Good old Catholic guilt, huh??

Well, Bryn, have a good weekend, and take care of your Mom.

Oh Rita definately different then the scam........I mean someone on the street.
Hey, I'm a recovering addict and I'll give someone a buck or two.......I don't do the old "Here's a sandwich"..........cause HERE you'll get the very coffee or sandwich ya bought somebody right over the head........no lie.

You've got a good heart Rita.........you know anyone can be in that very situation.......so ya give..........and feel a tear on your heart strings.......we're only human........breaks my heart especially young people out there.

Naw, this was a con..........straight up.........sizing up the houses too....I ain't so fiesty.........I got my protection in here.........what was between him and me welll I wasn't worrying, but yeah this lady..........opens the door..........we live in PHILLY.........for heavens sake........open your door.

Oh, Rita with the phone...........NO...........I know ya feel safer, but no it don't work if they want to get in..........you be careful.........let them talk through the door..............keep it locked............OR if it's that important they will come back or call............I'm sorry about the elderly lady in your neighborhood, and oh yes bad things can happen anywhere........good lookout on the cons though.

Uh-Oh a gang of grown men are at my door........big guys.........I have never seen them in my life..........let me go open the door for them.......oh ho ho.
This mommy of mine...........lots of fun over here.
Philly is really a great city. we have friends who live in germantown, and visit
sometimes when we drive up north. we always go to south Philly for the cheese steaks, that's a must. Also a favorite Italian restaurant, the name escapes me, but it has sinatra music playing all the time, and one of the waitresses gives our friend a hard time every time we go there. Part of the ambiance.
I love the vitality of a city, but now that I've been here in a quiet little town, the traffic can really get to me. Luckily, my hubby does all the driving, I just close my eyes and let him do the scary stuff.

well, Bryn, have a good night

Hey B

This sounds very familiar. Too familiar.... I used to run with a guy ( about 100 years ago) that ran that scam with a van with a ladder on top- &- a magnetic sign on the side that said " so-& so painting". Dude would ware clothes and a painters cap covered with paint- - very real.

He would leave a tarp & some 1/2 filled paints cans at the house after they gave him a deposit for the job. Told the unsuspecting people he would be back later that day or in the morning with his crew . Leave some phony card with phony company and phony phone number- - and they would never see him again.

Dude was good at it. It takes some real cojones to pull that off.-
Anyway last I heard about him,he was doing a 3 flat on 2 counts of burglary and heroin possession in Camden county.
He should have stuck to scamming-as long as he didnt show up at your door..

lotsoflove

Jack i knew and worked for ? some ner do wells who used to go round quoting prices for tarmac drives. They would brazenly show all their pics of past work done ..only it was someone elses...also they had every master tradesmans cert.ya could think of just handily lying about. They rippped folks outta thousands which i must say i got a cut from...im not very proud of it now but it paid for my habit so it was blinkered vision. They got caught also...they were filmed actually putting stuff down an old ladys chimney then saying ...oh we can fix that for a price...but the old womans son was a copper and busted them there and then...luckily i wasnt on there crew anymore but i think the footage appered on a t.v prog....callled Britains worst builders...so the got their 15mins and 3yrs. in Long Lartin prison.ATB...Davey
Yeah i hear ya. Not to long ago a guy with his small kid, kid like 1.5 year old. Knocked on my father in laws door. Guy says his wife has cancer she can't get her script filled they have no money. What a load of bs. There are plenty ways in the city to get cancer meds paid for. He was lying my father in law told him he was not supporting his drug habbit. Guy left walked down two houses was knocking on someone elses door. Who i am to say thou addiction is a dirty thing. I myself lied and bummed and took and stole. I'm wise now like you bryn i aint letting no stranger within 10 feet of my front door.
I've never had the bottle to do anything like that, i've got the gift of the gab, but just the thought of getting caught.....

Back in 2002 i was working for Hydro Electric going round doors trying to get people to change their energy supplier. I only lasted about a fortnight cause when i was going to doors of elderly people they were totally sh*t scared, i was in this womans house and about 5 mins into the conversation she started acting dead weird... she was scared! I was like " i'll just go", put me right off the job. On the telly a week before was a "tonight with Trevor Mcdonald" and it was about people going into elderly folks homes and basically forcing them to change over. I never did anything like that, i physically couldn't..... Some people just don't give a sh*t though, eh?
Crazy stuff right..........well at least the people you guys knew they had a backup.......as in business cards, trucks, and the likes.

Naw, it's not right, but I think we're all pretty on to the tricks.......the con cause even if we didn't do none of that directly........we know the score......boy score words for us, right? Just the word....LOL.

Somewhere some poor unsuspecting soul fell for that con......only it ain't me.

Looking in my door........he could see directly in my house.......which to me meant he may have been casing the joint........and could come back later....only through my window.......then he'd get a cap in his azzzzzz.

Crime don't pay that's for sure.
Bryn i presume you have a legally held handgun in yer house...locked and loaded ...so to speak...mind yerselfs out there.....Davey
Well, Davey all I can say is my dad took us to the range often enough. I never do anything illegal that's for sure. Was raised up to respect firearms. Oh well drug use was illegal. Apart from that honestly I'm law abiding. I don't even jaywalk.

Understandably people have huge problems with the gun laws, but basically it's all the criminals got the guns. Take away my right to bear arms we'll have only the thugs and gang bangers with the firearms.

Not saying I got any or I don't, but coming through my front door that person sees me third step from the top. They ain't hurt or maimed. They're dead.
Another golden rule. I was taught a stranger even with one foot in your door ain't there to be nice to ya so your job isn't to give them a little ouchie. It's to take them out. Although my mom opened that door with no protection. In that case it'd be on her some guy hurt her and burglared us. Then he may be armed ya know?

Ohhhhh, no, no, no I'm afraid of any kind of weapon, period Davey.

Afraid of even my Hung Hong Kung Fooey Kowabunga Stick.

EDIT to say I'm kidding there. I got other stuff to be afraid of.
Guns We got one in the house it scares me. I've never acually held or shot a gun EVER.It's Rob's gun he knows how to use it, i told him if i had to use i'ld just have to smack someone with it lol. I don't know nothing about no gun but, we have one he is real into gun rights home protection. My mom was always scared of guns she passed that onto me i guess. I'm scared to even know how to use it. I'd hate to HAVE to use it. he's wanted to teach me how i don't wanna know.
Responsible gun ownership.

ZG, we grew up with firearms in the house.........NEVER touched them.....never thought of touching them.........of course my parents took every precaution there was to keep us safe and the firearms put in places they could readily be used if need be.

Heaven forbid ya ever had to use it because it ain't like ya see on the TV....or in a movie.......and hitting somebody with it well that's not a good idea........LOL!
That's when ya hear of the tradgedy the intruder took the weapon from you.

Firearms are to be respected and learning the proper way to use them and to go to the range and to teach the kids that it's always loaded.........period.
We got taught exactly where to stand or sit depending on where an intruder would be............not to maime..........ya don't shoot to maime.......might as well not bother.

I understand as well though people's fears.........and their rights not to own a firearm..........not saying I do.........not saying I don't.........but I got a city of thugs out there all got guns...........15 seperate shootings last night.

People's are nuts.
