Come On Irene

Ive had to go out in some nasty weather to cop in the old days- -blizzards, thunderstorms, and flooding- - but I cant remember a hurricane- - Clinic gave people a extra bottle.so they are saving the drive for many people - -and themselves- -

be safe out there
jack
Love the title, Jack =D

Yep, weather as news...who knows what this thing will bring. I plan on being hunkered down canning fresh tomato soup and salsa.

That's good about the take-homes...real good.

We went to see Lyle Lovett and His Large Band the other night and he closed with a totally amazing harmonized version of "Goodnight, Irene".

Hang tight ~ M&M
We had the first bands go through, tornado watch is up so she is a creeping in. Monster storm, eye sill off NC....It is gonna be a long and interesting night. If it ain't up there yet Jack it will be soon!

Everyone stay safe!

That is a great title, Jack.

Lots of rain. Media causing people to buy too much milk and bread. That's about it so far.

We had a quake the other day, right? Now this?
I hope so !! All my family in New England....media is giving me a heart attack !!
I hate this whole weather-as-news phenomenon...like nothing else is happening in the world. And someday it's gonna be a boy-who-cried-wolf thing...no one will listen.
i think they did exactly right people may have been worried overreacted but they had resources in place that were important. it was not as bad but bad enough and we wait now for the rvers to crest wind is still bad here and she aint done blowing yet. electric is sketchy cable has been out and we are praying the trees stay standing...
I'm sitting in barnes & Noble paying my bills online because our power was down for two days and even though that's back, cable, internet, and landlines will be down at least until this Friday...how's everyone else faring? Not that I'll be able to get online and find out...
Powers on- - huge flooding issues * * *- - Feel like Im stuck on a Island. National Guard is all over this town with rescue equip. ,boats, and stuff- - Cant get around without ID proving you live here- -even then most roads are closed- - Guess it couldve been worse

NY started trains and buses moving this afternoon- - Long Island had about 1/2 a million with out power

andThe Beat goes on
jack
So far its been 2 days that I couldnt work.Power is out at the shop- and power is out in many of the buildings we need to service. We need power to work on refrigeration and AC.--SOOOO.its been terrible being stuck inside. To much water with no place for it to go * *

I helped Chickie(my mom) pick up all the branches and sh8t all over the property. --but I have to get out of this house today- - Im gonna try to drive to Dunkin do-nuts in a bit just to see if the roads are still all blocked by the National guard- -Lotsa evacuations still going on * *

Least we have power, so I have TV & music, along with this PC- - BUT -thats it- My son is stuck at his buddy's house a few towns away. So Im all alone (no indoor act ivies for me - -Hell even when Sandy was here there were no indoor activities to speak of- -haha

Even the shore is better than NY,Long Island, and North Jersey-
Hows Philly and south???

when it rains it pours
jack
HAHAHAHAHA Jack, you got me cracking up. No indoor activities. Give me directions and I'll be right up. I'd wind up helping you help Chickie.

Man, we have no problems. None. Here at least. Few downed trees is all. Power never lost it.

That's just crazy. I had no idea y'all were without power, and such.

Oh I did keep hearing them say on TV this morning that Amtrak, and NJTransit were only going as far as.............wait no NJTransit would be Trenton, right? So if people working in NYC who take Amtrak they are effectively screwed right?

Dang, Irene.

Jack, LBI, Seaside and all like you said I think are fine. It appears the Wildwoods, OC, Sea Isle, Stone Harbor and such are all open for business. Of course they are. It's the big weekend. Lord only knows what everyone will be swimming in as that ocean is churned up.

M&M, how about P-Town?

Oh and Delawre? Rehoboth looked O.K., but Lewes? They had a tornado in a hurricane!!!!!!!

Who wants to run away to Cape May? I want to after all them little kids go back to school.

Hope y'all can get back to work and get power. I'm so sorry M&M and Jack. Not even a puddle in my house.
A couple of pics of things that still need attention in my neighborhood...

hey all,its horrible to see all the devastation from Hurricane Irene,I cant imagine being in something like that. You all just had a big heat wave there too,no? We are experiencing that for the past weeks as well, although today should not be hotter than 90. The month of Sept is usually the hottest month of the summer then we go right into fall and it cools down.We are already seeing the days get shorter. I always miss daylight savings. Sounds like everyone rode out the storm fairly well and that is a blessing. I did hear there is another storm forming that could clobber you again. If it does just hang on to your bootstraps. God only gives you what you can handle they say. Please be safe and have a great day.
