It sucks doesn't it....
His heart rate wasn't high, so he waited. Once in though the doctor was really cool and did a full work up including a monitored bed, and cartiac enzymes. I had to say somethings about the nurses, cause I just had to.
Here these are some guildlines to weaning....
Significant withdrawal symptoms are unusual during gradual
SUBOXONE or Subutex (buprenorphine HCl) sublingual tablets
dose taper.
The rate of dose reduction should be determined in collaboration
with the patient.
Prepare the patient for possible feelings of less energy, lower
appetite, irritability, difficulty in sleeping, etc. It is the duty of the
physician to prepare patients for these effects in order to maximize
their chance of a successful treatment outcome. However, these
effects are transitory and should only last a few days.
Realistic goals for reduction should be established.
Generally, the more gradual the reduction, the better the outcome.
Your patients should expect to experience some withdrawal discomfort
once they reach low doses or stop taking SUBOXONE or Subutex
completely.
Slow down or stop the dose reductions if:
Your patient starts to reuse opioids
Your patients physical, psychological, or social well-being
begins to deteriorate
Examples of dose reduction rates and schedules are shown
How long does withdrawal last from sub? It's been 8 days since she last had some, right? Shouldn't it be almost over?
I remember Dan from the suboxone board jumped at 1.75mgs and he was still hurting 21 days later where he could barely get out of bed--- scary
Sub is so different than other opiates, Kat. People can be in withdrawal symptoms for months especially when they jump off at such a high rate. She could literally feel this way for the next 6 months. Everyone's different though.
What Tina wrote is the way I've always thought it was done when someone was ready to come off. The longer you're on it though, the harder it is to taper.

Never mind.
For some I think it is. There have been a lot of success stories because of it, but it's just like anything else, without the proper support and care, it's dangerous.
Summer, call Carol. She can help you. Please email her.
If it is financial, that can be taken care of. Don't worry about that!

Summer,
I am sorry to hear the ER didn't help you at all. I had a feeling that would happen if you were honest. Sad but true. Doctor's don't have a problem writing scripts but when they hear your an addict they don't want anything to do with you.
I mean it wouldn't have hurt him to give you some Clonidine or 10 tablets to help you sleep. Even something to help you with the restless legs would have been nice.
Your 8 days into it. I would say keep moving forward. If you really start to feel bad or feel like your blood pressure is rising you can always call 911.
Do you have ANYONE ( friend's/family) to come stay with you through the weekend?
I am not sure what happened to your insurance but I am assuming you are not in a financial situation to pay cash to the sub doctor or you would have.
I feel for you and hope this detox doesn't last much longer. Just remember you never have to go through this again and you will be back to your old-self in no time.
Hang in there! It will get better. Rae

Sub withdrawl is much, much longer. I think she could be in full wd (like the 3 to 5 day) for over a month....
This drug is very different.
This drug is very different.
You are all going to get a kick out of this! Earlier this morning I called my doctor and spoke with his secretary. I told her that if I did not hear from him personally by the end of the day, that he would be facing a law suit. I told her about my trip to the ER. Well, about 3:00 today who should call but the doctor himself! Now I am in a bind. He wants to put me back on 8mg. a day, for 3 weeks and then taper from there. I don't know what to do. Maybe I could get the pills and instead take 8mg for a week(4mg in the morning, 4mg in the evening) and then tapering it. I don't know what to do! All I know now is that I will have a bill from the ER that I can't afford. I personally think that my doctor should be responsible for that because if he would have called me back yesterday then I would not have gone to the ER! For those that are asking, I live in Gwinnett Co. GA. I would love to communicate with carol if you don't mind. I'll try emailing her right now.
I agree that suoxone is very different. Not many doctors can prescribe it and I am beginning to wonder what in the hell I have put in my body! Was it worth it? A couple of months ago I dropped my half pill on the floor (4mg) without realizing it. Well, my dog got it! (I have a dachshund) He didn't move for 24 hrs straight! His eyes were glazed over and his heartbeat was very fast. I called poison control and they had never even heard of suboxone! They found it on the compuuter and the woman was like why in the world are you taking this dangerous drug?
* My dog finally came out of his daze and is fine!

I have read this thread through and am a bit confused..your Dr has called and wants to put you back on at a higher amount then what you were on> Is that right???
Theres something that i want to say and im hoping that you dont take it the wrong way... not knowing people here you have really erred in not taking Atlas up on her offer..
there is noone i would rather have in my camp fighting for me when it comes to something like this then Atlas...
She is always here to help others but really went the distnce this time and offered to totally take care of this for you...her husband is a Dr, she is well informed and experienced with sub and yet it seems you have not even contacted her>?>>?
Am i correct on this??
if so hon, your really missing an opportunity..your at a cross road here and the decision you make has a lasting impact...
Final advice on the subject??
Call Atlas.

If that dr is willing to take you back, go. Tell him you want off of the sub and that you want him to do an appropriate taper. 8mgs sounds so high to go back on after being off of it for this long, but that's between you and your dr. Did he give you an appt time? Are you seeing him today?
I am glad they called you back finally....
About the dose. I would see what happens and I am not thinking you will need 8 mgs. Start low if you can and work toward getting off.
Good luck, and stick around if you can there are some good people milling about....
Cowgirl you talked of honesty....
I would encourage my husband to be truthful again, and summer as well. What if the hubby went in an lied and got nothing, in the end even with the bulls*** he did get help. A good end result.....
Oh karma is screaming in my head.
And gotta wonder if Summer got what she needed in this all, not at that time what she wanted....

I think you're right Tina. I've always thought that honesty is the only way and that it keeps us accountable. I just hate the way some are treated when they say they are addicted. The difference for me is to say that I'm a RECOVERING addict. I make a point of telling them that I am in a recovery program and for how long. It just makes me mad that some are treated less than human.
Summer,
My 2 cents worth on this is that it would not hurt to take Carol and Atlas up on their offer. They both have the experience with doctors who know how to properly prescribe this drug. Seems like your doctor will just be more of the same of his negligent action. If there is no way to be seen by their doctors immediately, then you may have no other recourse but to back to your doctor. But its worth a try to see what thier doctors will do for you.

"Sub is so different than other opiates, Kat. People can be in withdrawal symptoms for months especially when they jump off at such a high rate. She could literally feel this way for the next 6 months. Everyone's different though."
WTF are you talking about-I just never went though WITH my W/D from 2 and 4mg-
days not months you are through the worse of the W/D-Summer went to ER and was released.
That means her vitals were O.K--she was like 7-8 days clean?
Your through the W/D and getting better.--I had to work.or would have kicked one way or another--6 months ? Come on ?
Yea we are all different. Thank god we are--I dont get you and never will.
Suboxone kick? From my 2 tries ? I personally would be clean within a week--2 tops--its just dangerous and you need to have support like any other drug.
6 months?--Come on Lisa? where did you get that from??? CONGRESS?
I pray your health improves but your suboxone comments ? What do you know about the drug and why not work on Lisa? As you would say WHATEVER
Summer ---simple proven this works
8mg-cut 1mg every 2-4 weeks--see your doctor each month -a meeting --AA prefer daily -IMO
get to 4mg--cut 1mg a month until you get to 2mg-then cut .5 mg every 2-4 weeks
SLOW SLOW SLOW wean will work and if you go to a meeting daily you will be off the sub and coming up on a year sober.
It takes 6-8 months to properly come off a suboxone treatment. AA/NA should be part of your life.-Get your one yr chip and then decide about year TWO--ONE DAY AT A TIME
This is My experience. Its a good plan. it works if you work it. USE A DOCTOR -JMHO
Summer it takes dedication and many tough days. (YOU NEED SUPPORT) Your Husband is KEY--No stress
Husband? -Good addiction /mental doctor--Pain management-Other doctors for health issues? NO SELF MEDICATING OR YOUR SCREWED.
You need to find and trust a good doctor. If people live near you on this board and are your gender and on Suboxone CALL THEM--
Summer my PRAYERS are with you
Sincerely,
Jeffrey
P.S Lisa I wish you only good health but your sub comments? IMO a bit off
Take care cowgirl.

Jeff, Where the heck did that post come from? Lisa was just trying to help. Even if she posted something you didn't agree with take it to e-mail. This is why threads get locked. Shantel

Best thing to do is ignore him. I don't why he has to be so damn mean. It has nothing to do with helping this poor girl.
