Day 2 Ct....hell...advice Please

Second day CT from 120mg Hydro for about a year.
I cannot function. What otc help is out there?

My heart is with you and I'll try to help as much as I can. Otc drugs - imodium for sure. Don't be afraid to take it, take 2 at first, then if you need it take 1-2 more. You'll probably need it for a couple of days, I've heard it kind of tricks the body into thinking its a narcotic (you don't get any sort of buzz, of course). It'll help with stomach cramps, diarehea. I'd call my dr. and ask for phenergan at least. It's a prescription, but not a narcotic, it'll help with the nausea, it may help you rest a little. Maybe motrin for leg cramps or pain. I'll be honest here, I always have to use at least a little something prescribed for a few days like phenergan and lunesta or ambien for sleep, sometimes even soma for a few days. I don't recommend my way. But for me, I have pain issues, I recently had the 12th operation on my leg in about an 18 month period. However, I can't seem to take the pills as prescribed, so I run out too soon, so then I do whatever to get to the next appointment with the pain management Doc. I'm in a vicious cycle that you don't have to be in. I admire you having the guts and the strength to do this, but there are somewhat safe things for you to take for a few days to get over the worst. I wish you the best. You will get lots of good advice on this forum, from a lot of people in a much better place than me. But I did just want to respond and try to help.

MRJER do not be shy. The "BEST" person to talk to IMO about OTC is your local pharmacist.

Just tell him/her your symptoms. They will guide you in what to buy and how you should digest the meds. OTC can be dangerous. Your doctor should advise you as you may have allergies etc.

Any Drug OTC or Prescribed can conflict with you.

Example I had my teeth cleaned yesterday. I had to take 2000mg of a antibiotic an hour before cleaning --precautionary- --and because of the antibiotic had to cut out my Yogurt almost forgot.

Anyway you should be in contact with your doctor as they can prescribe meds 'SHORT TERM to help you get through the W/D

I recommend taking a more holistic approach towards recovery. Firstly, the following herbs: Valerian Root and Melatonin help greatly with sleep deprivation and anxiety. Also take herbal baths with Rosemary and Lemon Balm for relaxation. Good luck you are doing great.

You may not want to do it but, exercise is the best thing for you now. really, it does work, even just taking a walk outside helps

Meijer i 100% agree with lola. A few exceptions are i also too clonodiene for blood pressure, trazadone for sleep, Phenergan helped tremendously. Dont be ashamed to call a professional for help. U will be surprised the help u can recieve when they know u need it. Good luck. I just went from 300mg of methadone to 190mg and made the leap. Been about 45 days and am doing great. It is possible!

mjer, Good for you ... At day 2 your probably about at the worst your gonna get .... I know , Ive been there a few times ... I know at this stage words are only words to you, but believe me hang in there for another day or 2 and you will begin to climb out of it .... Its gets better very quickly after that ... Day to day ..... Dont forget, its taken you a year to get into your state and you dont come out of it over night ... Hang in there ... You will soon feel the benefit ...

What Tom said. Force yourself to do it and believe me you won't be sorry. It really does help you and you know what??? No drugs needed.

Another one to say the walking, and the baths.

Omega-3 Fish OIl helps alot with mood. It's amazing. A good Multi-Vitamin too.

I know we want help and NOW.....but if you take as little or no other drugs as possible it will be much easier in the long run........did the Immodium and didn't do it.....I found it way better not doing it........ya just want to kick it and kick it for good......out......tons of water too.......promise ya it will end...you're in the home stretch of that part.

If the insomnia is maddening.....a trick....someone told me and I told others and it may work......get yourself like cacooned.....I got between like the wall and a book case or night table......forces you to not move.....and suddenly ya can catch at least a half hour or so....more ya force the sleep I found the worse it is.

Do not fear asking for help unless your afraid of succeeding ask around. I like Jeff's idea. "they" won't know if you've just had some long term pain issues or if you just a garden variety addict. Get advice from every place you can. It stinks to be where you are but you don't have to be there again. Keep moving forward. We are all here for you.

Drink a lot of water. Gallons. It'll keep you hydrated and help flush the hydro and other contaminants from your system & tissues more quickly. As an added bonus, you'll get some exercise just going back-and-forth to the john. . .
