Day 9

Hey all,

Just wanted to share. This is day 9 for me, and I am still doing great! My body is going crazy - sleepy all the time, constipated, then can't stop going, dizzy, craving sugar, throwing up. But emotionally I am strong. I go to outpatient treatment 3 nights a week for 3 hours each night, and get to AA meetings on the other days. Sometimes I make 2 meetings on Saturdays and Sundays. Going to church now, too. This board is a great support for me! Now I really want to find a sponsor and start working the steps. Any ideas on how to choose a sponsor? Thanks for your input, and I hope you all have a wonderful day!
Hi,
You sound like you are doing really well - good for you, keep going.

I have weird things going on with my body too! Since I stopped drink and drugs my body reacts really badly to wheat products and chocolate. If I eat them I wake up next day with blocked ears, sore throat, and catarrh which gets worse if I continue to eat them. I love bread so it is really difficult to stop that as well as stop drink and drugs. I also feel so tired and energy less a lot, can't get up in the morning. I am finding it a real struggle to get my body right actually.

I do think alot of it is mind over matter, so as you are emotionally strong, you could progress well.

Good luck, and sometimes as hard as it is, it is better than the hell of substance abuse.

Love Lacey.
hey guys

to fing a sponsor you should listen in a group to the way peaple talk and how sincere they seem, you want to find someone one who has a long time in recovery over 5 years is a good place to start its not a rule, but they have had up and down and managed to stay clean.look for someone who does not tell war stories in the meeting and also some that you cant bull s***.GOOD LUCK!! or should i say good choices!!!because you do have them today
Wow, that is so great! Congratulations, you are doing terrific!
take your time with a sponsor. Find someone you feel comfortable with.

Notice how people talk AFTER and BEFORE the meeting. Who is listening and who is gossiping.

You need to be able to trust your sponsor to keep a confidence. Also, pick someone with good solid sobriety and someone who's experience you can relate to. Make sure they are walking the walk.

good luck.
oh yeah - same sex is recommended too for obvious reasons.
Idgie.
PS I happen to be blessed with a great sponsor.

couldnt agree more...choose carefully

lots of gossip mongers and sick people in aa,but there are also many honest and genuine people too,

after 9 days theres no rush to find a sponsor just attend as many meetings as you can and you will soon become friends with people and a sponsor will then be found

well done on 9 days

Hey JR

As everyone has said take your time and allow things to settle with your mind and body before choosing a sponsor, just keep going to meetings and one day you will just feel or know after someone shares that they may be right for you.
Congradulations on the good work done and be proud of you and congradulate yourself as well

Light and love Zac
Keep up the diligence, JR. And also realize it's not always going to be easy sledding. Keep your guard up so that, even though you're feeling good about yourself, you remain grounded in the realization that one drink will be too many and 20 won't be enough.
It's good to hear you're habits are changing, too. Remember, fruit and juices--and plenty of water--will keep the plumbing working well. You're used to all the alcohol sitting in your intestines and pushing everything out as your body tries to rid itself of acids and poisons. Eat lots of green, leafy veggies like spinach and salads--good for your digestion.
Keep sloggin' on!
Hey Jack,
Congrats on your 9 days. After 305 days sober I relasped and now I only have 5. Keep it going. ONE DAY AT A TIME. ONce you get to 30 your body will start feeling better and your head will clear up and the world will become clearer. It gets eaiser, but let me tell you from experience, don't pick up.

Lovin'life
Jack...
Wow...you are doing great and putting together a few 24hrs in a row...You're body is healing and very soon, you will turn the corner and the physical symptoms will deminish...Pray to your HP to help you find a sponsor, pick up the literature at your next meeting on How to find a Sponsor, it helped me a lot...

Thanks for sharing...you are a miracle and I love reading your positive attitude...

Take care,
Stacey
