Desperate For Help And Advice

I am an addict myself and have been clean from opiates for a while now but still working on the alcohol use. But I'm here for some advice for my little brother, who, on Monday went to our mom and surrendered himself, his drugs and his life to her. He is currently in a detox/rehab facility. He's been there since Monday but! his insurance is refusing to pay. They only covered 5 days, which is so shocking. My brother is detoxing from methadone, heroin, coke, ambien, and all kinds of drugs. I saw him yesterday and how they could possibly make him leave is beyond me. My family is not well off and so far, we've been able to scrounge up enough to keep him in for the weekend and have enough for the next couple of days but that is it. My mom and siblings have been online for days now looking for help. There does not seem to be any. My brother does not own a home and has zero assets. Would you believe that this facility told us that becuase he has insurance, he is not eligible for government funding? THis makes no sense at all. Someone, PLEASE advice me. If we can't keep him where he is or find another place, he will surly die... We are so desperate and very afraid... He wants help. He is asking for help and you mean to tell me, there is none? This can't be. We have to be missing something...
I don't know about your state , but many states have Charity Care that is set aside for the less fortunate or indigent . You don't have to be on welfare, and sometimes when the insurance you do have , covers only the meager necessities Charity Care will step in & help out financially, or at the least push you in the proper direction.
Thier not going to set you up in some 30 day detox and rehab "of the stars" but I know plenty ,who thru thier services ,were able to get help, that they never would have been able get themselves.
The only thing is - many times there is a waiting list for a bed or an opening- & that could be for a day or 2 to a few weeks.- you just have to be ready when they give you the green light.

Search around, pester city hospitals > ask questions, - demand answers, make them earn your tax dollars!

I have heard the salvation army can be of some help...really...I will look around too and see what I can think of....dont give up...there has to be SOMETHING out there that could help...did you talk to his doctor ?...sometimes Doctors know of places that can help...yes it really can make you so frustrated and angry when people who are really trying and reaching out for help cant seem to find it because they put so much red tape in it...I remember when I was trying to get clean how one of the doctors I went to for help told me "it was too complicated" and he didnt want to "get involved"..I was so hurt and angry...but my partner never gave up and she found other wonderful doctors and places willing to help...you dont have to have lots of money for some of these places...for real, try calling the salvation army; they might have a list of places that could offer help if they themselves dont have any...good luck and keep us updated...

Do you have any Catholic charities around? I'm pretty sure they are free... Not fun and have meager accommodations but it can work.
Thank you all so much for your advice! All very helpful. We were going to send him the Salvation Army and they had a bed for him. But, we ended up finding a place in Floridia. He just arrived there last night. Apparently, the northern states, which is where we are from, have much different laws and not much help or support. The place went to seems very promising and the folks there are all so helpful, compassionate and supportive. Compassion seems to be hard to come by where we come from...
Again, thank you all!!!!
