I have a chronic pain disease. I take 80mg Oxycontin twice daily with 10mg sublingual morphine as needed. I have been on narcotics for two plus years.
These drugs are closely supervised by my two doctors. They make it easier to live my life and have some quality of life.
I caught my dh taking pills from my nightstand drawer this morning. It was obvious that he was sneaking as the bedroom door was closed and he thought I was fixing the kids breakfast.
I could make this a loooonnnnggg post... but I will spare you.
Dh is a "recovering" alcohlic of 12 years. This is NOT the first time I've caught him taking my pills. This time the pills were methadone (which I don't take anymore) I had some left over from a stay in the hospital. The methadone was used to try and get more pain control, not to get me off the narcotics.
When I ask him why he does this he somehow turns the blame on me. He says things like "I am stressed". He thinks that I take them for fun and relieving my stress. Which is NOT the case! He makes me feel guilty for his stress!
I am just sick about this! It seems I can't find a good enough hiding spot for my pills. I only keep a couple pills in the nightstand and hide the rest. Seems like he's so desperate that he always finds my hiding spots!
Your thoughts? Thanks!
if he is taking your piils, he is most likely taking others as well.
my money says he is an addict

YEP, SOUNDS LIKE DH HAS A PROBLEM, SLEEP WITH THE PILLS..FOR AWHILE ANYWAY.
My BF takes my Xanax. 5 or 6 at a time. I have to hide them.
Hi,
I am a recovering alcoholic of 17 1/2 yrs and i don't know if Dh went thru the rooms of AA to deal with his alcohol addiction but he is tempting fate by abusing your pain medication as sooner or later all roads will lead back to alcohol or some other addiction in one form or another. Can you put your meds in something that you can secure with a chain and lock? A closet.....the garage.....the trunk of your car? Anything that he wouldn't have access to a key even if you have to wear it around your neck?
Sincerely
MARY
