I would like to know for anyone that has been clean if your brain ever getz back to how it use to be before use of any drugs or alcohol, this includes thought process and memory
Some newer neurology theory suggests it can. My experience is, although
it did take some time, mostly I can think as I did before. I suppose the time
will depend on how much of what for how long you used. Good luck.

im not 100% sure but i have heard within 18-24 months, your brain gets back to where it was...as much as it is going to anyway...
good luck...
good luck...
i think it does.. cos brain cells are always renewing.. keep the faith
As far as I know, brain cells don't divide as frequently (if ever) as other cells. However, the connections between the cells that are there are always changing. I don't think it's very useful lingering on whether permanent damage was done; what's in the past is in the past. The brain is not super well understood (I know this as a molecular biologist) and I think the best way to think is positively! Don't worry about the past, just do things now and in the future that capture your interest. Don't let your mind go unchallenged for too long. Keep it active and it will heal.
By the way, I dwelled on this topic for a long time after I got shock therapy. I didn't think too much about it because I was suffering from a really bad depression and antidepressants were making me manic, but I always thought "well, maybe if I hadn't gotten the ECT my memory would be better." Now I just try to work with what I have and I've let go of my regrets about getting treated. (Unfortunately, the ECT was not too beneficial)
Yes it does, depending on usage and drug type it can take from months to years. But It does come back, have faith!
It will but not without effort. If you just let it be and neglect even further, your brain will not heal. I suggest reading. As much as you can. And I cannot stress this enough, you really need to engage yourself into the text. In other words, don't just read to read the words, read for complete and utter understanding and when your done with a chapter sit down and process what you read and think about it. I found that the trouble I had after prolonged drug abuse was my concentration and focus, which directly affected my listening skills and cognitive functions. By doing this meticulous style of reading it will help the improvement of your neurological functions significantly. Don't expect it to heal instantly, but I promise, if you keep at this for even a month or two you will notice a huge difference. At least I did. I'd like to say i'm back to the way I used to think before my drug use and in a way better off because i learned and evolved so much from my addiction that I wouldn't have known without going through such a struggle; I've really how strong we can be when we need to be strong and I realized we all have great potential no matter the odds and obstacles we create for ourselves.
Also engage socially. Find someone to talk to. And truly listen to them. And speak like you want to be heard.
I used to play soccer nearly 24/7 and was in great shape. Then I stopped for a long time and could barely run up a flight of stairs without being winded. But after working on my cardio strategically and routinely I have conditioned myself back into shape. The brain is just like a muscle and will improve and become stronger if you exercise it. Reading meticulously as I advised earlier is in my opinion the best exercise for your brain. Give it shot. You have nothing to lose. Keep posting and let us know of any improvements.
I recommend some of these thought provoking novels:
1984, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Fight Club, The Great Gatsby, Lord of the Rings, The Alchemist, The Hobbit, V for Vendetta, the Matrix etc.
thanks for reading.
