I loved Mr Ed. That show was Da Bomb!! I remember a girlfriend of mine dating a guy named Wilbur. He had pretty big horse teeth and I would call her phone and sing this song on the answering machine when she wasn't home.
"Hello. I'm Mr. Ed." A horse is a horse, of course, of course; And no one can talk to a horse, of course; That is, of course, unless the horse is The FAMOUS MR. ED! Go right to the source, and ask the horse, He'll give you the answer that you'll endorse. He's always on a steady course. TALK to Mr. Ed!
People yakkity yak a streak and waste your time of day; But Mister Ed will never speak unless he has something to say! A horse is a horse, of course, of course, And this one will talk 'til his voice is hoarse! You never heard of a talking horse??? Well listen to this: "I am Mister Ed!"
Of course I know all the words by heart!! I know I am SO mean but I am sure she got me back..LOL
willllllbuuuur - errrr, ummmm, i mean tim - you talkin to me? (oh no - that's a line from another movie), i'm happy to see i made such a "splash" today on other BB forums. as a matter of fact, you crack me up, as i have tears running down my cheeks from laughing so much with you.
have fun hangin' 10 my friend and ejoy life. and rae - you just had to do it, didn't you? write the lyrics out to that song. now i can't get it out of mind. oh well...at least she didn't print the lyrics to "green acres"!
Mr. Ed was one of my favorites, I was little but I still remember it. Do you remember the Abott and Costello movies on Sunday mornings? Now that was a fun filled 2 hours for us every weekend.
I'd love to see a Trivia thread, theres enough of us around here that are from that era.
It drives me crazy to have a song stuck in my head. LOL Sorry bout that. My mom was more into Green Acres than me.
Here are two of my ALL time favorite shows. I still tape them whenever they come on..:-0) I know you all know this show. LOL
Well we're movin on up, To the east side. To a deluxe apartment in the sky. Movin on up To the east side. We finally got a piece of the pie.
Fish don't fry in the kitchen; Beans don't burn on the grill. Took a whole lotta tryin' Just to get up that hill. Now we're up in teh big leagues Gettin' our turn at bat. As long as we live, it's you and me baby There ain't nothin wrong with that.
Well we're movin on up, To the east side. To a deluxe apartment in the sky. Movin on up To the east side. We finally got a piece of the pie.
Or how about-
Boy the way Glen Miller played Songs that made the hit parade. Guys like us we had it made, Those were the days.
And you knew who you were then, Girls were girls and men were men, Mister we could use a man Like Herbert Hoover again.
Didn't need no welfare state, Everybody pulled his weight. Gee our old LaSalle ran great. Those were the days.
LOL I love the Jefferson's and All in the family..They crack me up. My boyfriend is 28 years old so ( a few years younger than me). Anyway, about a month ago I was watching the Jefferson's and he had NO CLUE what it was. LOL I said you've never watched the Jefferson's? This man must have grown up in a box.
When him and I got together about 4 years ago he had never seen " GREASE" or " THE WIZARD OF OZ". I made him sit down and watch both. I mean how can you go through life without watching those two movies? LOL Poor guy must have been sheltered.
Rae quotes-"My boyfriend is 28 years old so ( a few years younger than me). "
........you go girl!!!! That's better than yoga.LOL
I don't remember too much of the 70's but I'm just glad they quit making those acetate shirts with all those funky designs. I use to have cigarette burns in all of them.LOL
all righty rae! i see the bronze adonis correctly answered the opening lyrics to "the jefferson". "the jefferson's" was a spin off of the show that you posted the the second set of lyrics, "all in the family".
remember the all in the family show when sammy davis, jr. left his brief case in archie's cab and when archie discovered who it belonged too, he contacted sammy. sammy came to archie's house to collect his briefcase and upon leaving archie wanted a picture taken of sammy and him together. i forgot who took the picture (perhaps, barney?) but when the bulb flashed, sammy planted a big old sloppy kiss on archie's cheek. the expression on archie's face was priceless.
can anyone else name another t.v. spin off from "all in the family"?
oh yeah - and "moondoggie" - don't you think you should get out of the sun, before you melt?
you guys/gals are the greatest and thank you lisa for asking, i beleive i was in the beddie bye when you wrote to me - i'm doing terrific. won't hear back from my CT scan results probably until friday or the beginning of next week. however, i can wait. in any event, i know without a doubt, i'm being cared for by the most miraculous force of love in the universe. hope to talk with you soon sweetie.

two weekends ago, i went to the theatre to see "mame". did you know that bea arthur played vera charles in the orginal 1966 cast of "mame" when it opened on broadway. angela lansbury played mame. they sang a song together that is one of my favorites - "bosom buddies" - oh heck - go listen to it here:
