I dont know how many people celebrate this anymore. --It seems like the religious reasons and meaning of the whole thing would bring Christan's out like crazy.
A bit less commercial than Christmas ,Easter is for the bit more serious- it sure aint all about chocolate eggs in this family
I mean if you follow this kind of thing the whole resurrection or rebirth thing at easter can be paralleled with the rebirth of a addict that starts thier life over again by getting clean- - maybe thats stretching it, -its all that Catholic school education of mine.
Any way , I know throughout the world this day is a very sacred and important day- I know Chickie and my family will be in church by 8or 9am - then brunch and a easter egg hunt for the kids (some are still young enuff to look for plastic eggs - especially when Gramma Chickie hides a few dollars in them now , not just jellybeans.
Then around 2-3 or 4 (I forget) its to my brothers for Dinner.- I think this Italian family of mine just loves to cook and be with each other every chance they get
But at least they aint phoney about thier beliefs or thier church business- true believers this bunch. In a way, that wacky upbringing probably helped me more than hurt me.
So, peace, love and heath to youse guys

Alright jack, glad to hear you had a good Easter nearly made it church myself this morning even though I was brought up a catholic lost interest years ago. I consider myself an atheist my partner and her daughter are both Methodist and even though i made it last week this week was a step to far. I was on meth amps and hammering gear on top,I did a four week detox just before christmas came out and thought happy days, any way it was any thing but.I ended up trying to do a home detox and can honestly say if it wasn't for the help and support I received from various people especially my partner, who in my view deserves a medal i don't think i would be here. I have had some fairly good news ,because I don't spend much time at my flat i'd applied again for the detox and missed the appointment, so i'm going to ring tuesday morning and see if i can straighten it out. Wish me luck because last time I did it I came out with the wrong attitude,I like to play my cards close to my chest, i find genuine people few and far between, so I need to maybe open up a bit more and just hope you don't get hurt too badly.Anyway I'm starting to bore myself now so i'll sign off good luck and good wishes to you and your's from me and mine. p.s. had a fantastic dinner and a lovely day with family these are the things that make all the pain and suffering worth while if only Everton had won the day would have been perfect. For those who don't know Everton are a football team in the premiership in England. Goodison
Hi Jack, nice post. Yeah, as a Greek Orthodox Easter is THE big holiday of the year, way moreso than Christmas. Greeks being much like Italians, we love an excuse to spend time together, too. My sister's flew in from DC and NYC, cousins drove down from their place and we hosted, as we always have. I cook all the traditional Greek dishes and keep the traditions, which pleases my mom no end.
I love that I have tried to give this gift of family to my two girls, and wish we had more kids to enjoy the big family feel and be there for one another...maybe it'll rebound in the next generation.
Lamb, spanakopita, dolmathes (stuffed grape leaves), Easter bread, pilaf, feta, red wine and olives...the whole nine yards...and SUCH a beautiful day here in the NE.
Good to see you, Jack...Happy Easter or as the Greeks say "Kali Anastasi" (Happy Resurrection).
Peace ~ M&M

Just another pathetic useless holiday and reason for the card companies to fleece you and an excuse to gorge on chocolate. (no yarn spinning today folks)
Easter is purely religious to me, as I consider myself to have a relationship with God. I don't do the commercial thing at Easter time at all. Though I do like chocolate and Easter fruit buns. lol :)
Sorry to hijack such a nice thread but Resh we get it im sorry that this has happened but cant you see were all still here for you&each other.
