Trazedone is a non-narcotic often prescribed for addicts in recovery as a sleep aide. Although I rarely take it now, I have used it in the past with good results. The amount prescribed is usually 50-150mg taken right before bedtime.

It's an excellent choice for a non-narcotic sleep aid. 6 hours of good sleep isn't bad if you are detoxing. Try taking it at 11 or 12. probably better to stay up later and sleep in later, unless you are a very early morning person.
i have taken trazodone also,
my problem is since starting menopause, i wake up 3 or 4 times at night, i havent had a full nights sleep for years now, even went to a sleep clinic for a sleep study, no sleep apnea.
in rehab they gave me ambien cr plus trazodone, i still woke up 2 times a night,
i have also taken seroquel and lunesta nothing keeps me sleeping all night.
then when i ask my elderly clients, do you sleep all night? most all of them say no, must be an old age thing. look what i get to look forward too? julie k9
Hi BlueSky-
I know this may not a popular suggestion but in all honesty, nothing helped me sleep during that period I went through w/d's.Anything I took not only did not help me sleep but made me feel like crap the next day.I finally just accepted the fact that I wouldn't be sleeping much for a few weeks. On day 3 I talked to my sponsor and he suggested just throwing anything I had away.I am so glad I did.We also talked about that knee jerk reaction for addicts to immediately take a pill for anything wrong.

I did force myself to go back to the gym on day 5 and get on the life cycle and try and burn some energy. It was really painful to do that.I made it about 8 minutes the first day but built up a little each day.I also made myself walk up to the park and back. After doing this for a week I noticed I was actually starting to dream at night. The first signs of sleep.

Be careful with anything you take.Sleep will return
good Luck
thanks all! i'm listening. tim you are right about pill taking. i think a big problem for me is my tolerance for pain has never been good. i'm learning to deal. since stopping vicodin i have lost weight and my blood pressure is down. several meds i used to take i don't anymore. my goal is to be med-free w/exception of synthroid. it's probably forever. i will try not to take trazadone every night. thanks
Blue-Good for you man.You won't regret it.If you have a hard time sleeping,I will give you my cell# and we can talk. That will put you to sleep in no time.LOL
Blue, I have taken Trazadone for sleep and it does work and is not addictive.

It does make me groggy the next morning, so I take the lowest dose possible. The grogginess does wear off pretty quickly.

thanks, brooke. tim, i doubt very seriously you could put anyone to sleep especially someone in withdrawal. i need a hammer over the head. i will definitely keep in touch.
