A friend of mine is wanting to get off heroin despretely. He has a leftover 100 MCG fentanyl patch he had leftover from when he was sick a while back. I know fentanyl is a strong drug. He was talking about splitting it in half. I'm wondering if this would be too much for him and if it will even help him get through the first few worst days of his heroin withdrawals?
that sounds very risky. (I am not an addict, I am a family member) keep reading posts to see what to do to taper. I think suboxone is the way to go. with other meds or otcounter meds.
i never used that but found this link https://www.drugs.com/cdi/fentanyl-patch.html and after reading i am not sure it will help much having only 1 patch, they say 1 patch works for 72 hours so what your friend will do after 72 hours pass? Its only delaying withdrawals symptoms . you didnt say on how much heroin he is on so i would suggest first to cut down daily dose until he comes on minimum (its hard for addict to cut down and not use what he can and feel high) lo of painkillers, if he can get some muscle relaxant like valium , hot bath , bucket for being sick, drink as much as he can and eat whatever he can hold down .. i a sure others will have ore advice
