Lucia.......thanks for your advice that you offered to someone else about what to take to sleep at night that is non addictive. I'm referring to your suggestion of trazadone. I had never heard of it. I asked my doctor to give me something to be able to stop having to take Xanax to sleep at night because of my condition but she had no suggestions. I've been taking half of a 1 mg pill.
I am also adding to the board on information that may help others. I have been suffering for years from Fibromyalgia and Chronic fatigue. It had debilitated my life so severely from the joint pain and the weakness was so bad that I sometimes could barely walk across the room. Regardless of how weak I was I NEVER got more than an hour of sleep at a time. Sadly no doctors knew or understood what caused these conditions so I have done months of research myself and found the answer. If anyone else has had to end up living a life of narcotic meds for the pain and xanax for sleep and wanted, like me, to get an answer for the cure, NOT FOR THE SYMPTOMS, then check out this website. http://www.candidafree.net.
I found out (the couple that has this site are wonderful people and shared all my symptoms and more) that all my horrible symptoms which are much more than I just described are caused from an overgrowth of Candida (a normal yeast in our digestive tract) which turns into a toxic fungus. Because we live in a high sugar and carbohydrate country this Candida becomes overfed and overgrows into our systems, then it turns into this toxic fungus which gets into our organs, joints, eyes, brain, etc. The doctor who has made this discovery says that 80-95% of peoples medical problems are related to this condition.
I have been on the treatment called ThreeLac for over a month and already I am seeing my symptoms disappear. I should be completely off of any medication within about 6 months. I have already gone off of the Norco that the doctor had me on, and onto the Buprenex. I am cutting down the xanax to .25mg now. I finally have hope to have and live a normal life. I just had to share this info. in case anyone else has ended up on addictive mediction for legitamate reasons. The doctors NEVER gave me an answer. I had to find it myself. I am so grateful to the ThreeLac and to Mark and Alyson for their support.
I only hope that I helped someone who was like me that never even took an antibiotic until I became so debilitated from these syndromes. God bless all of you and I pray all of your suffering dissapear.
New visitor,
Thanks for all the useful info you posted.
Simple yoga done in slowly increasing steps might also add to your recovery from fibromyalgia.... which is already going so well.
Glad you thought my adivce about trazodone might be helpful if you end up needing an alternative to xanax.
Good luck and keep us informed.

Hi Crystal,
I'm concerned about the chronic yeast infections. There are several area's that those infections might occur and the treatment of them varies due to the location. If your infection is a GYN problem have you spoken with your gynecologist? That would be the first thing I would do. I know how badly those can affect you, it isn't pleasant. An oral yeast infection is awful too and the prescribing doctor that provides you the meds you're taking can address that. But don't wait because the symptoms will get worse and can lead to other problems if not treated. I'm also concerned about your long term use of the Vicodin. I was taken off of them and started on Oxycontin because the constant intake of acetaminophen (Tylenol) in Vic's is really hard on your liver. I don't know what your doctors reason for keeping you on that for so long but I would sure ask. Let the doctor know at the time what you're thinking about doing or would like to do. There are lots of things they can do, medication changes or additions to your program. Don't be afraid to ask! Let them know about your mood swings too, that can be worked on successfully too. I was really in the pits, depressed and lashing out. I had been on anti depressants but not enough to handle it. Now I'm not having the difficulty that was bothering me before I asked for help.
Stay in touch and let me know if there's anything else we can talk about. That's what we're all here for! Stay strong and keep your chin up!

Hi Red,
If you have an active yeast infection anywhere in your body and left untreated will most certainly cause you complications. Is this a new problem recently diagnosed? A gyn specialist is definitely qualified to give you treatment. I found a website for you to check on oral yeast infections, it should answer any questions you have:
http://www.nutrition4health.org/NOHAnews/N...tInfections.htm
I've been taking 160mg OC three times a day for what seems like ever. I don't remember life before them. I tried Methadone and it didn't give me the relief the OC does. I've had multiple spine surgeries to try and correct damage sustained in a diving accident. I may be a candidate for a medicine pump. It's implanted and delivers medication directly into the spinal fluid. Much less medicine and more effective pain relief. But, you have to agree to having this machine implanted inside of you and I feel this is like a prison without doors. So that's not a decision that I'm going to rush to a conclusion on.
I would definitely ask your gyn doctor about that problem and remember they're still a full fledged medical doctor. They can treat many problems and will refer you to the right doctor if necessary. That website will explain what a lot of the symptoms for yeast infections are. Do a Google search of "yeast infections" and you'll get a ton of information about all of it.
Hope this helped!

Hi Crystal,
You bet those drugs cause mood swings! Your central nervous system changes and adapts itself to the chemicals in those medications. Once you've been on them long enough your body/brain requires them to function. That's where are the addictive behavior and dependency comes into the picture. When you have become dependant on these drugs and then stop taking them or change the way you take them you will experience all sorts of things. One of them being wild mood swings! When you don't supply your body with the amount of medication it wants you'll begin to withdraw from it.
I'm glad to hear you've made an appt. to see your doctor! You're going to be a happy girl when you find out how much help your doctor can provide. Then you're going to be mad that you didn't do it sooner!! Just don't be hard on yourself, you're doing the right thing now and that's what matters. I've been taking OC about a year and a half if my memory serves me right. I started out on 20mgs twice a day and it was bumped up steadily to my current dose of 160mg three times a day. I need to increase it again because I'm not getting the pain relief I need. If I'm going to take it I want to make it worth while. No sense in taking it if it isn't serving its purpose. Ideally I would like to be pain free and medication free but the doctors don't give me any hope of that. So I hope for a miracle and while I'm waiting for that I'm satisfied with pain relief!
Keep in touch! Tig
PS: Try to not be scared or afraid, knowledge is power and the more you learn and the harder you try to make things right, the more control you have over your life and the direction it's taking. Hang in there!
