Finally Trying To Stop Drinking....

I am 38 years old and I have been battling alcaholism since I was 21 and could actually go into a liquor store and legally buy. The only time I have EVER gone an extended period of time without drinking was the 2 years that I was pregnant and nursing my twins. Well, last night i finally said out in the open to my mother and my husband that I have a problem and I can't control myself. How mortifying. The response I got was the total opposite of what I expected. They both hugged me and told me that they love me and just held my while I cried my heart out. I am even going to try AA. I want this to work so bad.

Who would know that the mom driving the minivan and participating in all aspects of her 4-year-olds lives goes home and night and drinks herself into oblivion?
Your deserve congratulations for admitting you have a problem and being willing to go to AA.
If you have trouble fighting the cravings you might consider topamax (see Addiction Medication on top tool bar) or nutritional supplements (see Holistic section and then click on Nutrition)
Good luck,
Lucia
SOOO Good to hear your moving toward recovery, check this out
{www.reformu.com} go to locations, click on the state, a listing for meetings will come up - You can have 100% Freedom from alcohol. There is a CURE.
Reformers Unanimous is an awesome, out-patient program that is free. They also provide nursery/childrens programs - and it's FREE. Hope you do, you won't need to be medicated to stay sober.

You're in my prayers
Umm,
I'm getting ready to start dealing with my drinking - probably through local AA or some counseling.

My reason for posting here is to make a comment on Mikie constantly posting www.reformu.com .
I went to the site, looked up my state and found a place.
It turned me off.
You know why?
This sentence:
"Let us help you find the victorious life God wants you to have."

Please, add to your posts "The group that I am advocating is a religious group and they will attempt to address your addiction problem from a religious - most likely Christian point of view."

Thanks.
