So far frank, a pack and a half, If I go to sleep now I will have succesfully tapered by 10, although I am hopped up on candy and I dont think I can sleep.

Ok Carol I hope this makes sense...

Tim's parents live 3 hours away, in the opposite direction of Green Bay where Erin goes to school. So we would have had to take 2 cars to his parent's house, so he could stay late, and I would stay a few hours with Erin then drive her way back to Green Bay, then drive myself back to Sheboygan.

I told Tim this morning, I just didn't feel up to all that driving. And Erin decided not to go either, cause she wanted to get back to school to finish an art project.
So Tim was not happy.

Here's the deal: for 22 years, we have packed the kids up and drove to his parents house for holidays. Keep in mind that when we lived in South Dakota, this was an 8 hour trip, each way. I just think that missing one F-ing Easter with his parents isn't a matter of life or death. No one else in Tim's family has to travel; they all live in the same town.

Also, Andy had to work, so he didn't go either, so it ended up just being Tim and Steven, our youngest.

This whole thing doesn't have anything to do with my addiction or the fact that I told him everything last night; I've been irritated with this set-up for 22 years! It's like he is putting his parents ahead of his own wife and kids.

Thats right you guys are going to taper on cigarettes how are both of you doing.. I need to do the same thing.. but one thing at a time.

hey you guys be careful with that cig taper, you dont want added stress while your off pills. One thing at a time, the pill thing is the most important, make sure thats in check first.

Betsy, I understand completely. If you;ve been doing that for 22 years and are just now speaking up, that is commendable. It's your holiday, too. You shouldn't feel bad about that at all. For 18 years, we packed up everything including Santa Clause to spend the night with his family on Christmas Eve. Finally I just put my foot down and put and end to that stuff. It is addiction related. You have to get those little irratants out of the way when you get straight. : )

Maybe ya'll should set up a schedule of holidays to go there and which to spend at home. Been there, done all that. Tell them to come to your house if they want to.

I posted on Marina's thread that AA/NA is very adamnat about not quitting smoking or trying to lose weight until you have one year of sobriety. Adding that stress just may trigger a relapse.

I used to smoke and I thank God I don't have that to add to all this, but really,
take it easy and get clean first!!!!! Eventually you'll be able to quit the cigs, but use them as a crutch for the first year.
