12 Stepper, I kinda wish that would've prescribed that for me when I stopped! Well, maybe not since my detox was very uncomfotable...but I guess it's exactly what I needed to go through...I hope I never forget that, actually I wrote it out ~ just in case I need to be reminded of my last drunk and the early days of sobriety.
Izzy, for me each day got a little better as long as I didn't pick up a drink. Hopefully, the Campral will alleviate some of the more dramatic withdrawal symptoms associated with detoxing from alcohol. Keep posting. BTW, Ginge may be on the road, but I know once he sees your post he'll get right back to you.
Thanks VWGirl and 12 Stepper... I kinda thought Ginge would be on the road...
I'm pretty angry tonight... just family stuff you know... mum getting right on my nerves... nagging and s***... normally I would get drunk because of it... but I have no wine or anything in the house just a few beers (for the first time in about 2 years) and I don't wanna drink anyway... I don't even feel like the beer but I better drink it coz that's what the Doc said to do...
Anyway it's nearly dog walking time and then bed for me...
Keep smiling!

Izzy, Just out of curiousity what do your parents think about your drinking....or do they know? What would be your suggestion to me in regard to my youngest daughter who will be sixteen, experimenting with drinking...I seem to remember your about 20 years old, if my memory serves me correctly, so I'd just like to get a younger person's perspective on this.
VWGirl... my drinking started because of my BPD. I really started drinking when I was 13 every weekend with mates... then when I was 16 it was more than once a week. When I started college it was every night because I couldn't cope with interacting with people. I'd go sit on the bench outside at break and lunchtimes chain smoking on my own. I didn't eat in front of people I was too self conscious so I lost weight... I couldn't hack talking to people and pretending to be happy. On the way home I'd go to a wine shop and pick up a bottle. I'd drink it to make me sleep as I could go days without sleeping... eventually one turned into two bottles and so on... I could sink a litre of whisky at night and get up in the morning at 5am to go to college. My perspective on it is that it's normal for a teenager to go out drinking with her mates at the weekend. When it starts to become every night or more than twice a week I would say it's becoming a problem. For me anyway that's the way it worked. No-one even bothered that I was becoming more withdrawn and introverted... on the other hand I had explosive anger at certain things... My BPD
My parents know about my drinking... at first they used to confiscate the wine and stuff but I'd just go into a full blown rage and smash stuff up... when I started self harming they knew something was up and I got referred to a CPN who was great I really liked him... he gave me the confidence to stop drinking all the time... then he said I was fine and I was alone again... Next time I got a CPN was when I got an emergency referral because I got arrested. This time I got a Psychiatrist. I had to diagnose myself with BPD. I had a Social Worker for three months instead of being charged... I was furious about that as I'd been trying to kill myself when I got arrested...
Anyway VWGirl... I think it's just a matter of see what signs you can pick up on with your daughter... as long as she knows the facts she'll be ok...

Thanks Izzy, I personally don't think she is going through a phase but who knows....with her experimenting that is....but only time will tell and God will reveal it when it is time...sometimes she goes to AA meetings with me and doesn't particularly care for them ~ lol! However, she has been to a couple of NA functions and has had a good time...so like I've said before the seed is planted.
