Grasping At Straws Here.

All having to do with the withdrawl of the job offer due to my "criminal" history. I am considering changing my name back to my maiden name. Wich is a way better name anyway LOL. My questions and I am just considering it maybe someone will know having been divorced and changed thier name either through marriage or through going back to thier maiden names.
Jane, Not sure what your question is. If you asking if changing your name back to your maiden name would have helped you get through the background check my answer would be no because they go off you SSN and both last names are associated with that. Shantel
Sorry wasn't very clear. You are right. If they go off your social that would be correct. But the last almost job I had they ran it off my name only. I did talk to a lawyer questions about how long until I can get the crap off my record and I am looking at at least 5 years. So I asked him and he said that if I had a name change either through marriage or going back to my maiden name it would make it harder. I want to live honest open life. And here comes the excuses I have to support my kids and myself. Now all my charges were reduced to misdemeanors so that should help too. But here in the county I live in there is a website The Utah County Sherrif Department that you can log onto to check everyone arrest record right down to the letter what time etc... And everyone has acess there is suppose to be a password but it goes around like wildfire so anyone can type in your name and see everything you have done. I have the password and I get it each time it changes it is a source on endless entertainment but when it is used against you it sucks. So that is why in part the name change.

****edited to say still not clear. I just need to know the process. Drivers license place with my divorce decree. social security etc...I just don't know the process I should have asked the lawyer. But I didn't so just talkin out my a** right now
Check you divorce decree, Most already give permission for the person to change back to their maiden name. It's usually right at the end of the judgement. The hard part of changing your name is getting the judge to OK it and this is accomplished. Your lawyer should of entered this into any agreement and it's standard.

As far as background checks. Yes, it's done off of SS#'s. They all also cross check first, last and maiden names and some also use your mothers maiden name. It uses ALL those names as alias's, even if you have never used the name. As an example, when my background is checked, it also uses my mothers maiden name AND my 1st wifes maiden name. It goes so deep that when my second wifes background is run, her name comes up with my last name, her last name and my FIRST wifes last name and her mothers maiden name.
