Does anyone out there know anything about the hair testing way to find out if people are using drugs? I have been offered a job with the exception that I can pass the hair folical test. It has been 4 months since I've been off Codeine but I am taking Suboxone. I'm not worried about pot or any other street stuff - just about the Codeine and Suboxone. Anyone know how long this stuff stays 'attached' to your hair? This is just my luck. I live in a small town, why in the heck are they taking hair tests and not urine tests? I pass urine tests all the time for the sub clinic. I don't even have to study!!! lol
Anyone with info would be appreciated. Thanks to all - Dawn
If you're prescribed sub by a dr, then why would it matter? You are taking it legally, right?
Don't know about the codiene.
Don't know about the codiene.
Hi there
Dont forget that when you say you pass the urine tests at the sub clinic, that doent mean that sub isnt registering in your urine as a narcotic, your passing cus they are looking for OTHER things that your not supposed to be taking...which you arent..
Sub would show on a urine test from what i understand, and hair would be no different..but you should just let them know that you are on sub and then it shouldnt be a problem.you have nothing to hide...

Actually when you pass a drug test in the sub doctors they are looking for that sub being in your system alot of times, as well as other things.....
I don't have info on sub and drug testing, if it is available and tested for in the explandable tests. Just know it doesn't show up in the urine cause they don't look for it. One could assume it would be the same for hair, but I don't make assumptions.
Did you think to call your sub doctor and ask if the sub would show. I would be real curious as to that answer. Might have to make the hubby ask at his next visit......
Here is a link to the standard NIDA Test.

Hair testing.....detection periods
Codeine/Morphine, Heroin, up to 90 days in the hair
I hope everything works out....

I saw a program on television a while back about hair folical testing. I think they said you could tell by the hair folical if a person has used drugs in the past six months. But I'm not certain and it could be different for different drugs. Good luck.
You could shave your head and do the "Bruce Willis" style. I wonder what places do in that case where someone shaves their head???
From memory (dont hold me to it) hair follicle test show anything used up to 120 days. It is highly unlikely they would do a test that looks for metabolytes of sub.
Urine tests are the same. Unless they specifically look for sub, it doesnt show up, as the metabolytes of the commonly abused opiates are different to those when using sub.
In the end it doesn't matter, do the test and you either pass or fail. Worrying wont change the outcome of a drug test.

The answer to my own question is: Suboxone will show up in a hair folical test IF they are actually testing for it. It will not show up otherwise. Same for urine tests. I have nothing to worry about because I haven't had any codeine for four months so I should be good to go. Thanks to all that answered. Dawn
