Has Anyone Tapered Off Of Herion?

Has anyone here been able to "taper" off of herion. I have been reading through the pp thread and so many people have been able to taper off of pills. In the past, I have been able to taper off of pp but never with H. I would try to do a certain amount every day but always did more than I alloted myself and then I would try again and again and again .....Just curious to see if anyone has been successful by tapering off.

On 3/13 I started taking suboxone and have been H free since then.

For me Catladee.....i could taper down over a few days until i was just banging up dust,but im afraid i always had methadone even a small dose like 50ml.to do another taper i.e day one after the smack ran out i would take 20ml. then two days of 10ml.each then two days of 5ml.i felt it gave me less of a comedown and helped with the small withdrawl symtoms i had,so after a week/10days i felt i had got it sussed.....thats until the next time i f***ed up.Now im clean over 2+yrs with the help of methadone,so i cant honestly say i tapered down just by reducing the amount of smack i used,although for any addict its a good thing to do as yer withdrawls will be lessened somewhat.

Sorry but the thought of "tapering" off heroin is TOOOO funny. I tried MANY times only to end up fooling myself because no matter how much you taper down that monkey still has enough strength to climb right back up!

I also tried to tapper of Herion and to be honest the nature of herion addiction is the more you have the more you want I personally think it's the whole lifestyle change ie get away from user friends, dealers ect that will see you through as you need to be busy but busy doing the right thing not the illegal. I have tried recently to tapper as it scares me to death the thought of the withdrawls i don't know why but it just s***s me up. I have done it sucessfully many times even been clean for 1 1/2 years but still ended up back to the start with not only a drug addiction but an addiction to methadone too!! I am going into hospital on 1.4.09 at 7.30am and I will have my last ever smoke before I go while i'm in hospital my drug worker will visit me to keep an eye on me and my partner will be doing a home detox to so next we have to move and hopefully life should be back on track! well done on your recovery but i was wondering i'm in the u.k and is this suboxone that everyone talks about the same as subatex i think it's the same thing over here it's basically benamorphine tablets and you usually get put on 8mg-12mg daily?if it is the same i will be getting swaped over from methadone to it when i have weaned myself down to 30mls of methadone so i'm keeping my fingers crossed it is the same as you get in the us as it sound great!

I tried it many times, sometimes i mamged it for a few days, weeks, but in the end i always went back. I personally think that using benzos whilst going cold turkey would be the most effective way to do it.

That's pretty much what I thought - that it is just about humanly impossible. I've tried so many times. I would buy in stock and ration out so many per day and within 2 days it would be gone and then I would try again and again and again always thinking the next time would be different - lol
