Hi Everyone! How are all of you? I can't read all the posts but know that I'm thinking of the friends I've made on this board and want to say hello and welcome to any newcomers.
I'm checking in with all of you and I'm still sober ~ I just had 4.5 years of sobriety on 5/22! I had dental surgery yesterday and survived that just fine. I'm still going to AA meetings and taking commitments....I joined Weight Watchers and have lost almost 10 lbs (20 to go!) - I've enrolled in College, LOL! I've also rekindled my relationship with my BF who I've been seeing for about 4 years. My passion is still very strong for the Boxing and Kickboxing classes that I am taking too with my 17 year old daughter too! All this just because I stay sober one day at a time. I am very blessed with two daughters who I am beginning to understand and am learning to love unconditionally through the Program of Families Anonymous. I never really understood what "problems of abundance" are, when I hear people share about them in the AA meetings that I attend, but now I do...I've been graced by God with the gift of a wonderful Sponsor who took me through both the the Steps and the Traditions, Sponsees who continue to show me that it is still not working out there and my Sunday 12:00 noon home group, people who probably know more about me than anyone wants to! I wanted to come on the board to share with all of you that although the recovery journey isn't always easy, and sometimes it gets hard and different, but as my Sponsor constantly reminds me: "Trust the Process".....I've been through alot in my sobriety and just did not drink no matter what... and I am so very grateful that I was taught that early on in AA and I am grateful for all of you! Have a wonderful weekend!
Hi Veedub!
Good to hear from you. I think of you from time to time and wonder how you are doing, glad things are going well. I'm still plugging along the sobriety pathway. I've got over a year in now! hard to believe... Thanks for being part of my recovery. Take care,
one day at a time, Cookster

Geri! So good to hear from you...you sound great. Real glad that good things are happening and that even the real life stuff - like teenagers - isn't getting you down. You rule!

Hey there you seem so happy.! Posts like this one certainly gives inspiration to those of us who are in early recovery. I have almost 5 months of sobriety now and looking forward to the rest of my life sober. I am so glad that life is good for you and that you are reaping the rewards of sobriety. Thank you for dropping by and sharing your ESH . God bless and take care.
Hi, VWGirl, good to see your posts from time to time. I especially can relate to the gratefulness and believing that I, too, am blessed to have found sobriety and recovery.
There are so many people that learn to stand in recovery. You've shown folks here how to walk, as well. Thank you.

Hey VW! Good to hear from you. Glad things are going so well. Have a wonderful day. Hugs.
Thanks all! Hope all of you have a great Monday! Make it a great day! Don't drink no matter what and easy does it! LOL!
YIPPEEEE it's VEEDUB!!! Damn I hate that your sign on date isn't the correct one. I want the newer people to see you are one of the old-timers around here! You are definitely one of the people here that kept me coming back here. Thanks for being such a great friend and a support system during my many episodes of insanity!

Thanks all, and a special thanks to Val...I know I wish I could change my date back to December 31, 2004 ~ maybe I should ask the Moderators if they could do that for me....anyhoo, remember my sister turned me on to this site....the first day I posted I had found a bindle of coke in one of my shoes and it was such a life saver to go on this board and post about it...at the time I had just a little over a year!
VW,
You were one of the first if not "the" first to post to me. I don't even know what I was searching for when I came here. I was just newly sober ( I think 9 months)and I stumbled across this site. I was so nervous to post but when I did I was made to feel soooo welcome.
Definitely ask the mods if they will put your sign on back to what it is supposed to be. Newer people need to see you have walked the walk so to speak. :-)
Have a great day my friend.

Yep, I sure do remember posting back and forth with you....boy, thank God for you; a lot of times you just would keep me grounded and would help me stay sober that's for sure!
It really is true how much we all help eachother. I was always looking to you and the other long time board members wanting the amount of time you had. I am at 2 years and 9 months. I can't believe it. One day always turns into lots of time before you know it. Thanks for helping me stay sober.
Hi Val,
I sent an email message to you...didn't want to bore others here with some of the stuff that's going on with me and mine!
Pirate & Zipper,
Just wanting to thank you for the posts and wanted to check in with you gals and see how you both are doing? You guys sound real good! I'm glad that we are all sober and that we've all found this forum to share our experience, strength and hope with each other!
Geri
PS-did you guys notice the missing teeth along the upper right side of my mouth? I'd tried to eat solid food recently (I was starving), but no go, so my oldest daughter works in a yogurt shop and she brought me some frozen yogurt today!

Cookster & MomNMore ~ how goes it with you and yours? Glad to see your posts too!
Things are good, Geri...you know the usual round of moms & daughters stuff, but overall, pretty good. The two of us are too much alike so we lock horns sometimes, but just last night we were discussing how it feels okay because we have such a solid foundation that the rest is small stuff and totally fixable. My younger girl is just so easy it doesn't bear discussing, she's an unusual and wonderful young woman, unlike most her age. I want to be just like her when I grow up.
Saw your pics ~ lot of beauty in you three.

Hi Vwgirl aka Geri,
I'm happy to read that you and your daughter's are doing well. Thank you, for taking the time out of your super busy schedule to say hello and let us know how you are.You have always been a mentor, a person of hope and inspiration to me. At times I went back and read some of your old posts. They are full of ESH and your words, your journey has helped me more than you know. You are a beautiful spirit!
I will have to fourth, or is it fifth how beautiful you and your daughters are. I really like your youngest daughter's new hair color. My daughter's recently had their hair colored to. My youngest one wanted hers done darker like your youngest. I told her instead of having low lights just have it all colored like your older sister.
I must say you are one hot Mama! It's no wonder you were able to snatch a younger man, yes I remember. I'm sure he doesn't think you need to attend weight watchers either. But good for you, for doing what you want to. Thinking and feeling more healthy and beautiful. Congrats on the loss of 10 lbs. The flip side of your dental surgery is it will help with your goal. I would like to lose 10 lbs. myself, OK 20 perhaps. Some for vanity, but mainly for health reasons. I want more energy and internal health. Good for you keeping up on your kick boxing that will go along way. Plus your spending valuable time with your daughter. What a great example you are to your girls.
Congratulations on 4.5 years of sobriety. WOO HOO!!! I just had my first 6 months on 5-16 and a WOO HOO for me too! I'm starting to get more involved with life now. Actually being active after many years of feeling and thinking I was not worth anything and not being involved with living. I really feel grateful most the time to be alive. I have a sponsor and there are many meetings in my area that I find incredibly valuable to my recovery. It's like group therapy. I still haven't gone to just woman's meetings. I know I have a block in my mind that needs to be removed. All in time. Recovery isn't always easy thats for sure. I've been tempted at times. But now have some skills and a HP/God who is awesome. I don't want to go back to being hopeless and helpless. One day at a time. You have shown us it can be done even when life is " lifeing you."
Thank You Again For Sharing. Have A Great Week!
Love,
Chris xxx :)
