Hi everyone...i was on here before..but its been awhile...my doc is vicodin...as many as i could whenever i could..i can go through 100 pills in 4 days.
my story is no different than any of yours...stealing,lying etc..to get what i thought was the greatest thing to ever happen to me. Now today I finally have an appt to get the suboxone. My last pill was at 5:00pm yesterday. I am feeling a few withdrawls..they are mild right now..but i know within a few hours they will be more uncomfortable..thats putting it mildly..lol. I just wanted to know about the sub..will i really feel better?? i have to function..i have kids and a full time job...and with the holidays coming..im just praying that it is the "miracle" i have heard so many of u talk about. if anyone can tell me anything..i would be so grateful..i cant wait till i can be the one to give out some advice. thanks
Leslie
Hi Leslie;
No experience with sub myself. Many here have used it or are using it now as a bridge to opiate freedom. Just wanted to wish you all the best on your journey.
I'm sure someone with sub experience will jump on soon.
Take care;
Jim

Leolady,
I don't have a lot of time but I will be back. I just wanted to welcome you to the board and say if your taking 100 pills of anything in a 4 day period of time then you have to try something new. I think Suboxone will be your best bet. I have never taken it personally but my ex took it for 7 weeks and I have known many people on this board that have done really well with it. I think a short term sub program will really benefit you but that is something you will need to talk to your doctor about. Keep coming back and posting. We are all here for you. So how long have you been taking it Vicodin? Rae

Leolady,welcome.I took sub for a short period,and my son has also.It does make you feel normal almost INSTANTLY.You will be amazed.Im sure your doctor will tell you all you need to know about it,but definitely short term is best. I know it has svaed my sons life,he could never have made it without it,no doubt! I took it only for a few days in detox and it helped me alot.Please stick around,keep us posted on your progress.Take care~KIM
Hey Leslie,
Welcome here, you've found a good place. I was on sub for 10 weeks after trying to quit and relapsing a million times over. For me sub was another attempt at trying to quit. The sub really does take away your physical withdrawal, you'll feel "normal", the way you did before you got caught up in your addiction.
When I first started sub was when I joined the board. I started to really look at people who had clean time, study them, see what they were doing that I wasn't. Almost all of the people here with long clean time didn't use sub. What I found they did was get outside support. I was very reluctant to that, but as my sub was ending was when I started to get face to face support. I was so scared of the sub ending and me going back to using that I gave in, at the urging of this board, that I went.
I know myself....I know I would have relapsed if I had not taken those steps for myself. I hated it when I started here and people would push meetings down my throat. I hated it when they got me to think and look at myself and my behavior. Absolutely hated it. But I had to hear it, and more importantly I had to listen.
So my advice to you is when you start the sub, give yourself that time to figure out what you're going to do when the sub ends. Because when it does you're still stuck with yourself. There are so many good people here that will help you, some will say things you want to dismiss and not hear....those are the things you want to examine. It sucks, but its so worth it.
If you have any other questions, John D here knows a lot about sub, he can really help you there, or I'll try to answer if I can, but I'm not around as much as I used to be. There are a lot of good people here.
Good luck to you,
Redd
