i think the worst parts are over. what can i do to alieviate some of my suffering?
to sleep, to be comfortable?
Hi,
I only have a second, I gotta go out. But, I couldn't leave without at least saying hi to you. Sounds like your at the peak of cold turkey. You should ( speaking from my own expreience ) start feeling better every day now. Not much, but a little each day. At this point I tried to get a shower a couple times a day, relax watch TV, listen to music read a book, or just for me, this is what I did, Go to some meetings, even if you feel like s--t, it'll get you outta your head for an hour or two. Hey, free coffee and donuts, what the hell!! lol
I'll be praying for you, hang in there, the worst is just about over!!!!
Take care............................God bless.........................................Bob

BE VERY PROUD OF YOURSELF what you are accomplishing is AWESOME. how do you feel about hot baths with epsom salt and red cider vinegar - great for pulling out the toxins. i can't imagine going cold turkey, you are a very very very very brave person. Be proud of yourself and love yourself, you are doing perfectly. i pray you wake up tomorrow and say wow, i feel a little better and so much more alert and alive and SMILE and congratulate yourself. you have accomplished something HUGE.

ive found hot baths the best thing. when i get too uncomfortable i hop in the tub, its a bit small, but it works. i wish i had a hot tub. i found that many 15-20 minute baths are the best.
im pretty achy, and dont know if i can take an asprin or motrin or i also have naproxene. what should i do for the painand sleep???????
by the way, someone said in another post how cold-sweats stink.....my whole room stinks ike medicine, its gross

Atom,
You are right towards the end, everything stinks and you don't think it can get worse, baths are perfect, sleep, you can use sleep aids , but I would recommend, your body will eventually sleep here and there, I was hearing radios for a few nights lololol. I think your through the worst, after a week, I could wash all sheets and the smell started to leave. Hang in there, like Bob said, your getting throught the worst, each day symptoms get better, and head begins clearing. Everything I took (medicine wise), was really a waste, except Immodium. Keep up the good work, you are almost there, certain symptoms will last longer than others, I went cold-turkey off Oxy. So not sure if that helps. Your in my thoughts, Best Wishes
Keep drinking fluids, take vitamins and try to eat something

Congradulation Me Me,
That's inspiring for many, especially since you tried to go into detox, unfortunately alot of us, have no where to go, no beds available. I wouldn't recommend it, but it's the way many people have to do it!!! Wow, 21 days, good for you. I had 3 weeks and had a 5 day relapse. Make sure you go to a meeting before that happens, relapse is HELL!!! It sounds like your doing great, but those meetings will help you whenever you need one. Welcome to the board, and take care, Congradulations again!!!! Best Wishes

Hi atomisk - recovered heroin addict myself. I did it cold turkey too, over four years ago, so can identify with the withdrawals you are going through. YOU HAVE COME SO FAR, and I reinforce what Bob says about each day will get a little easier in some way. Before you know it you will be feeling some relief, and however small, you will feel ten feet tall while it lasts, and it will get you through the next bout of withdrawal. Step by step my friend, and the steps are small, but they make GIANT LEAPS eventually.
Baths were my biggest help too. I also used candles and aromatherapy oils (vanilla, lavender, geranium, rose - but not all at once!)in an oil burner, music, TV, opening or closing the curtains, wrapping myself up in my duvet, sprawling out on the floor - whatever I needed to in order to create the environment I felt comfortable in.
Well done you are a star, keep us posted as you need to, I look forward to it.
Much love, Claire x
