That split part down below those pins and stuff? Is that going to heal on it's own or is more surgery in your future? To say that looks painful is an understatement! Whats the plan? I imagine you are supposed to say off it for now. Then p/t down the line. Try not to push it too fast Vin. Must be a real "pain" no pun intended to get around the house and try doing "normal" things. I hope you have lots of help.

That' finished?? It looks like the one screw is really long on top. Are you allowed to put any weight on it yet? ow is the pain doing? You are in my thoughts and prayers. OUCH OUCH OUCH AND OUCH!!!!!

good morning jan and dawn,yep what you see is what you get[lol],i told you it was bad,the orthopedic surgon said he did the best he could with what he had to work with,the bulitt not only did major damage to the bone but also the soft tissue[musscle] and severe nerve damage,and i have to keep in mind there is always that chance for infection to set in,so far so good[no infection],my main objective for now is to get as much range of motion in my leg so the limp won't be to bad,the doctor said this kind of wound is going to change my life style and i'm far from being out of the woods yet,even though that wasn't wanted to hear,he has my respect because he gave it to me straight,anyways that x-ray was only half of it,i still got another that goes all the way to my hip,i will post it later when my kids get home from school because i'm not what you would call a computer whiz,i will have to have one of them do it for me,the truth be told,i just learned how to type with 2 fingers not that long ago[lol].............vinny.
goodness Vinny that looks as bad as it is.I feel bad for you.Though Im not a Dr I do know having & keeping a FRM(full range of motion)will be helpful as you heal.
Please know Ill keep you in my thoughts & prayers.

good morning mj,well this is what that little .22 that you mentioned did to my leg[lmao],my gun was a .22magnum and there just had to be a dam hollow point in the chamber,alot of people under estamate the power and dectruction on what a .22 can do,if you ever look at the box the shells come in it states the bulitt travels a mile and a half,with the .22magnum i believe it's a mile and three quater up to two miles,so in short it's a very powerful and long distance cartriage[bulitt],hope your doing well mj.................vinny.
No Vinny I do know the damage a 22 with a hollow point can do.I have a couple of boxes of hollow points(locked up)& I use to love taking my rifle.(Its a Winchester 61)& go target shooting.I simply love that gun it just felt like mine the first time I shot it.
Like I said theres so much building in my area that all the "old"good target places are disappearing.
I know you dont FEEL lucky but you realize you are right?It could of been so much worse......

hey mj,yea i'm a target shooter also,i lost all intrest and felt guilty and sad when i went hunting,i must be turning into a wimp[lol],i look at it this way,if you have food at home you really don't need to be killing animals,don't get me wrong i still like a good steak or hamburger,but i would rather go to the store and buy it,to me the other way is just being a redneck[lol]...........vinny.
i'm going to get something to eat,i will post the other e-ray later today when my kids get home from school...................vinny.
Hey Vin my Bf use to be a avid hunter but when he was it was a matter of helping feed his family(there were 10 kids)Id have to say since he & I have been together(going on 9 years)he too just has lost interest in it.Though I still love a good "backstrap"we have friends that give us deer meet.I myself KNOW I couldnt hunt...well maybe a turkey,but I know theres no way I could shoot a deer & such.
My time is almost up on here too so I probaly wont be on until the morning.

I don't know if this sounds gruesome but that is one awesome x-ray.
It just amazes me what doctors can do now a days. When I was 5, my brother fell on the ice and busted both of the lower leg bones and I remember he was in the hospital with pins in his leg connected to traction for many weeks. Then he had this sheepskin piece they used to prevent skin break down. To see how those pins just pull your bone fragments back into place is just amazing. I feel like I am getting thrills from your pain vinny.LOL

i can only imagine your pain.
i had a bunion removed and after the surgery... i thought i would die from the pain, that is how i got addicted to vicodin, i was laid up in the bed and it hurt so bad to get up to pee that i had to have my family go out and get a bedpan! plus i did sponge baths in the bed with those washing clothes you can buy, so i cant even imagine your pain.
it is really hard when your bottom limbs are affected, because one has to put all their weight on something that hurts, i know it must be painful to have your abdomen cut or your chest but at least you dont have to walk on it!' later as i got better, i used a chair that had wheels on it and was able to get around real good on the hardwood floors we have.
glad to hear that you dont want to hunt anymore, i am a animal lover, i dont eat meat, very rarely, love shrimp and lobster and crab, that doesnt make me feel guilty to eat.

whats up,no lisa i wasn't high or drunk and i did't even go to a na meeting[lol],but i was high on the helicopter ride[life flight] in more ways than one,they gave me a big ole shot of fentayl which i only got to enjoy for a couple of minutes before i passed out,i will post the other x-ray here in a few.............vinny.

lisa,a friend of mine sent me your orginial post before you had time to change it,let me say you never suprise me,for all the new ones to this site,lisa[cowgirl] has this obsesion with starting kaos and trouble with her rude and nasty digs to start trouble,along time ago this board was a fun and good place to be,don't get me wrong we still had arguements and disagreements but most of the time good ole lisa and her holyer than now smart as remarks was the reason alot of good people has left this site,you notice how instead of saying anything careing or kind,she would rather say[SO WAS YOU HIGH WHEN YOU SHOT YOURSELF],and i answerd you saying no,if i was i would of told you so,in all reality it truley is none of your business,but i'm the kind of guy that tells the truth,i mean thes face it you live on this board,the only reason i'm back is because of the accident and i thought it would be nice to share what kind of hell i'm going through right now,and maybe make a couple of new friends along the way,for those of you and i must say it was all but one that was kind and careing,i will be forever grateful,if you wish to talk outside of the board my email is vinny0019@aol.com.
