hi my name is nathan ive been on the gear since tha age of 13 im now 18 im on 85ml of methadone im not usin heroin every day im usin crack cocain aswell i use them seprate but im dig them i was livin with my brother colin at his flat but things was gettin to much so me mom had me bk home and ive been there now for 5 months
13 ??? That's a pretty young age to start using dope. If your stable on your mdone dose, I would think that heroin isnt the main issue right now - - its crack cocaine.
I only had a short run with that stuff, but I know its very psychologically addicting. Your probably trying to replace the rush one gets from heroin. because it sounds like your dose is high enough to keep you comfortable.
I don't know, but most clincs (at least here in the states) wont stand for dirty ua,s with coke in them and still continue your methadone treatment. It shows that your just not serious or you don't want to put the effort into sticking to the rules.
Maybe talk it out with your people at your clinic and see what steps they have in place to help with a coke habit- -

Nathan, you are so young - 18 yrs old. If I was 18 and I knew then what I know now....... . The problem is that you still 'dig' crack cocaine. I wonder if everyone has to reach the proverbial rock bottom before catching a wake up.

..I guess you are quite young to be on that amount of methadone nevermind the crack habit but nuffin suprises me when it comes to drug addiction..i've got a 15 yr old son and i could'nt imagine him indulging in drugs at such a young age..it would tear me up inside if he ever got into any kind of drug use..its when we see people so young posting about their addiction that we feel that bit more sympathetic but i don't think your looking for sympathy, just help ?..i imagine you know about all the hassles and stresses that come with being an addict..there's so many on here and the other boards that have had long term addictions or are on treatment for their drug of choice and have been for many a moon..mate im not trying to patronise ya but if you could only see wot we know now about heroin/crack addiction then im sure you would refrain from using ?..as hard as it is to stop using give it your best shot to try taper off the methadone (slowly)and stop digging crack and if possible to stop using anyway altoghther..i know its so much easier said than done but you've got a long long life ahead of ya and it would be a shame if you were still using in 5-10-20 yrs time..it takes a lot of hard work on yaself as you may know but anything's possible if you have the desire and willpower to suceed..i wish ya well in getting off the juice and crack altoghter..stick around on ere aswell..ther is some wise and knowledgeable people on ere who will give you as much help and support that you need..its only a message board and not face to face but the words n support on ere is second to none..it's not an easy road to travel when people are stuck in addiction but the more they try to help themselves the more chance they have of succeeding..you should also post on the crack/cocaine part of the board also..good luck mate..Robbie..

Hi Nathan; i was well into riding when i was 13 too.....your lucky though to have been able to get on the methadone now...85mg should as others have said; be holding you pretty well...why the crack on top ?...is it the buzz or is it that you feel like you need to be doing something since you are not banging H anymore...your 18 now, grown man; what do you want for your life ?...chasing the drugs forever ?...in and oout of programs and shelters and the streets ?...you have a chance now to turn things around if you want...are you working any programs ?...your first step should be getting off the crack...you know as well as anyone thats is russian roulette your playing...is it the thrill then ?...addiction is a long and tiring battle...Ive been at it for most of my life..Im 48 now...do you really want to be that old and still be a drug addict ?...you have a chance to get clean now...so do it...dont waste your life anymore; ask yourself some questions....Hugs
