Morning friends in recovery!
There are some people on the heroin forum that are sincerely asking about alcohol. One poster makes the claim 'it is socially acceptable and NOT a drug, and that it's ok for recovering addicts to use alcohol.
They really could use some serious help.
The issue comes up in 2 threads;'Shut up/no He Didn't and 'Trista is out of here'
I understand it's the holiday and many may not be about, but if time allows please help there. Thanks in advance.
Best to all ! a
Astrella what else can be done? If you read the thread people reached out for her.
She has chosen not to answer. Its sad but its the disease.

astrella..how are ya..i posted a message on,,,tritas post? im not saying it is..or it is not..ok for me to consume alcohol..im saying thats wot i do in my social circles at weekends...as i said...im only trying to escape from my heroin addiction..i understand consuming alcohol can lead to reusing..but alcohol has never been a problem to me...only when i used to pop pills did my alcohol use become more....im not saying either is it ok for other people to see it like this..we live as we see fit to live..as i said my vice was heroin..my alcohol intake is socialable..and i also no the dangers it brings us.ex users.of heroin.??...you have a merry christmas..astrella..may peace be at your door..robbie....
Hello sub,
I wasn't referring to Trista.
The threads I named have other usual posters making some odd claims.
If you read the oh no shut up thread,a reg poster makes the claim that alcohol is not a drug, also nothing wrong with a teeny drink.
Those are the ones who need some accurate info.I'd hate to see a lurker or newbie reading a long time poster saying such things.
That practically gives them permission to use (if they don't know alcohol is a drug)
Addiction is a life or death issue.Such misinformation is dangerous.
That is my biggest concern.

Hi robbie, and peace to you too!
We each are responsible for our own recovery. You,just as I make our decisions on what program we choose to use.
What works for you may not work for another. And may hurt them.
Have you read any of the NA literature? The 12 steps don't include alcohol usage.
The steps help us make life changes, where we learn not to put ourselves into what is for many a 'hot' situation.
The scientific amd medical communities long ago proved that alcohol is indeed a drug.
If you'd like to learn more about it,use that as keywords.Amazing amount of info.
I just hope folks make an informed decision after weighing the evidence and data. And not to further harm themselves.
Have a wonderful, safe and sober holiday season! a
edited to add....There is also the issue of medications. While I don't know who takes what many recovering addicts use sub,'done or are prescribed other types of psychtropic meds.As far as I know(I will stand corrected) all the psychtropic drugs come with a no alcohol warning on the labels.
That indeed has killed some.
