Sorry I worried anyone..had to make an emergancy trip to my folks. My dad is in pretty bad shape. He had surgery a month ago and is now having complications. We had him airlifted to a better hospital on my side of the mountains. I'm home to shower and grap a clean set of clothes and then I'm heading back to the hopital. Don't think I can lose this guy. He's my biggest fan, my best bud, bought me my first horse when I was 3 and has supported and loved me through the worst of times.
I miss you all and will touch base this weekend. I don't hold a lot of stock in this praying stuff, but it wouldn't hurt. If you've got some room in your bed time prayers, would you include him?
Love you all
Cowgirl

Hey Cowgirl
I wish I had some words of wisdom to make you feel better..I can share a piece of my history with you though
.I almost lost my Dad to a major heartattack some years back...I'm the baby, and he's called me Boo my whole life...before surgery, my Mom-brother-sister held his hand and talked to him and then I did and he just held on to my hand so tight...Mom tried to take over but he wouldn't let go. We too are the best of friends....
In the coronary care unit the next morning-I just sat and talked to him and got him to laugh and the doctor had a fit. His room was at the end of the corridor, the elevator at the opposite end. My Mom said when she got off of the elevator she heard these girls laughing and carrying on and thought how damn disrespectful...and the closer she got to dad's room she realized it was my sister and Dad and I! It hurt everytime he laughed but that's the way he and I are. Alot of people think our dark sense of humor a tad much, but no matter how bad the situation the two of us can find some humor in it. Maybe not at that exact moment, but we always do.
The next day the doctor told him he was amazed at the turn for the better, that he couldn't explain it, but he was gonna be ok. To this day we all look back on that with a smile instead of fear. I am still terrified with his health but all I can do is be there for him and love him, you know.
I will keep you and your beloved in my prayers, hon.....
God Bless you and yours,
Jen

That was a really touching story, Jen. Your dad sounds alot like my dad. We drive my mom nuts, find humor in everything. Without a doubt he is and always will be....my hero. I guess us "daddy's girls" can really feel for Cowgirl tonight. I can only imagine how she must be feeling. Love, Kat
Hey Kat,
My heart is really breaking for Cowgirl right now....I can totally relate to what you said about Pop being my hero...and we definitely drive my Mom up a wall too lol....my sis and brother are very tight with dad, but I wound up with his sense of humor so the two of us end up reaching out toeach first when something's wrong...
My counselor in rehab said we are "emeshed" but hell, I'm proud to call him my best friend....I'm sure you can understand that....
Hope you sleep well tonight...
Best wishes comin' your way cowgirl....

we pray by touching the deepest part of ourselves
that longs, that needs, that is.
let it speak in its own language,
more often than not without words.
prayer is the language of my communion with HP.
__________
cowgal - my prayer for you is that every activity
you engage in today be loving and gentle.
what a generous gift of love you have given your dad.
to be able to be alive, awake, and present in his
hour of need - i dunno gal, but it appears God sure
is crazy about you.
when i first came to recovery, i thought i didn't know how
to pray. about all i could say for the first six months or
so was "thy will be done". it became like a mantra to me
and i frequently find myself saying this today when i find
myself confused, angered, or living in fear.
hope you get a chance to post over the weekend and let us
know how you and your dad are doing.
you are in my thoughts and prayers.

CG- Please keep us updated on your Dad. It's a year ago today I found my Mom dying. It's hard, and our prayers are certainly with you.
Cowgirl,
I'll keep your father in my prayers. Just wanted to let you know your in my thoughts and I'll be thinking of you till we talk again. I know your not big on the prayer thing, and have a hard time with God. I respect that and have no intentions on trying to force my beliefs on you. Just know that your loved and what ever it is you choose to call you Higher Power now is one of those time I suggest using it. For me I find comfort talking to my Higher Power when nobobody else is there to listen or understand. Some folks use meetings as there Higher Power, the best thing I can think of to suggest to you is just don't isolate, make a meeting when you can and let someone know what your going through and how your feeling, don't stuff or minimize your thoughts and feelings.
hang in there, I love ya', this is life on lifes terms.
Take care.......................................God bless......................................Bob
