Morning John,
I have a few minutes......so I wanted to fill you in. I know that you are up to speed until the second visit with the shrink. So he goes and they start talking about his pain issues. How well the sub is working...the usual stuff. Well out of the blue the doc decides to tell him he can stay on sub as long as he wants....Now what he is going to do I don't know and neither does he, for now he doesn't have to have a set plan. He will keep working with both the shrink and addiction doc with an open mind and see what happens. There are somethings he has to talk to them both about like the fact that he was put on AD's at like 12.....but we don't know what for. To see if it might be more than just the pain issues...... The meds they gave him at the time could be used to treat depression or hyperactivity.....and his parents don't remember why they let a doc put him on it......Always more questions than answers.
Would love to hear any insight you have on the depression aspect of this.....I read that you too where on AD's at a young age.....
You take care........
Tina

Why would the Dr. tell him he can stay on them as long as he wants?
My Dr. told me in the first app. that it is usually over a few month period treatment
not meant for long term. I can't wait to see what John has to say.

Sorry Misty wasn't ignoring you today, just had a lot of work to do and had to get an early start. Im impressed with your memory, I was on an anti-depressant when I was 15. When I was 15 I had a bad case of scoliosis and had an operation where they inserted a metal rod into my spine. That's one of the reasons I have pain issues today.
Growing up in the 70's with those kind of health problems would probably put any kid into a depression, that was why I was put on an ad then. Since then I have had bouts of depression mixed in with anxiety and panic attacks. The pain pills (percs in my case), seemed to solve all my problems, pain, anxiety, no depression. Thats no way to live, thats why I quit.
Im on an ad now anafranil, its a tricylic ad used for ocd and depression, which I was also diagnosed with 5 years ago and klonopin for panic attacks and anxiety (no wonder I popped pain pills).
I asked my doctor in what cases would someone be on sub indefintately and he said someone who keeps relapsing and turns to drugs. He also said it helps with pain issues so I guess you can kill two birds with one stone.
Marina, in most cases the sub is a short term bridge to get off of narcotics, but there are some cases where its used long term, I think neon takes it long term.
For now Im going to try healthy eating, living, plenty of excersise and vitamins to keep my problems under control, so far its working pretty well.

Hey John,
Thanks for the info.....and yes I do have a great memory.....I freak people out with it all the time. The hubby hates it cause I remember every word and thing he does....lol He didn't have a lot of time with his counselor tonight....but is going to go into the depression thing next week. Wish his parents could figure out why the hell they put him on that s*** back then.....it was Thorazine....we are talking a 12 year old......Someone really screwed up big time. I guess that a long ago meds were limited too...not as many as are out now.
Marina I know that you asked about the sub.....like John said kill to birds with one stone..... .other countries use it all the time in real low doses. Also some findings that suggest it helps with depression, forget where I read that though . He doesn't know what he is going to do or how long he will stay on it....all he is doing is dropping his dose until the cravings get bad he is at 4 mgs now.....And he still has pain on it but tolerable. This is something that all the doctors have to figure out with him including the pain management doc.....I am not getting involved, his decision, as long as he isn't doing lines of herion or popping pills.
Oh and John you cook....you will have to tell us all about that someday.....LOL
Marina check your mail and you will know what we all look like here including the hubby!
Hugs to both of you.......
Tina

Oh John I will have to send some Italian girls your way.....You really want to laugh growing up in South Philly with lots of Italian guy friends....I learned I could never be married to a Italian man...LOL So I picked and English guy from Jersey......Hey how old are you......I'll guess between 27-32...ok how wrong am I...LOL
If you looked at me and said that, Id guess Id be flattered but Im 43 so Im not sure how to take that.
Tell BA I went to England for 2 weeks and I think I lost 10 lbs because of the food, bland or what. I went to Italy for 12 days and gained 10 lbs. You go to a restaurant in Rome and you make a night of it, wine, course after course of unbeliavable food.
Good night another busy day tomorrow
