for me holiness is not a state or a condition, like a special badge or suit of clothes i may wear. it's not like a graduate degree or certificate that i earn through study it's not even an energy or a charismatic presence. it is certainly not spiritual celebrity-hood. holiness instead emerges from relationship. it's dynamic. it's a manifestation of what is happening between me and another in the moment. was mother theresa a holy person treating the poor and the ill in calcutta, or was she a person who was holy while treating the poor and the ill in calcutta?
holiness happens through hearts that are wide open.
dear God,
may we dare and care enough to be truly open to each other today.
may this entire day, be one of holy and sacred moments.
it is such a relief to know that we can't earn or learn holiness,
holiness is Your presence expressing in and through us in any and every moment. thank You God!
