How Do I Ween The Gf Off Hydrocodone?

Hi. New member here :) I myself always stayed clean of any recreational drug use. I am very new to this.
My gf that lives with me is addicted to hydrocodone and maybe others but it is what I have caught her with. I think she takes 6-8 pills a day. They look to be on the big side!
I have raided the house and car for the pills. I have the current stash. I will be dispensing them. I do not know how long this has been going on but I would say years.
What I need help with is. How much to allow her and for how long? What to drop it to. In short a plan!

It is difficult to offer specific kind of advice in this scenario. I would seriously consider trying to seek advice from a medical professional - a doctor if possible or addiction specialist.

There are many factors to consider such as length of use, amount of use, underlying conditions, contraindications from other medications etc. This needs to be reviewed, evaluated and analysed carefully. This is why some kind of professional consultation is recommended.

Thanks for the reply. It is currently Sunday so getting the family Doctor today may not be an option. I also want to keep this in house.
I am thinking of cutting her down to 3 hydrocodone a day. Allowing her normal prescription pain med. Do this for 2 days.
Then Cutting the hydrocodone to 2 and a 3/4 then dropping her prescription a dose or two.

This may be too drastic or not enough.

You can't do this for her or to her. She is a grown adult. If your force her, your setting yourself up for a big let down. When my boyfriend found out what I was doing and try to control it, I just found other ways to get what I wanted. Addicts lie, cheat, and steal if need be to get the "fix". She has to want to get off the meds. Good luck.

I have to agree. Dispensing the pills won't work. We started out with mutual agreement and I believed and trusted her. I would hide pills in garage or house and she would spend the day looking for them while i was working. She felt degraded having to ask for them at specified times. Addicts have to want sobriety on their own. The biggest thing I learned after she started subs for sobriety is that the lies and deceit don't go away. This drove me insane and devastated me completely. I feel so much more betrayed then ever. The entire addiction relationship is unexplainably painful more for the partner than the addict imo.

I realize this. I wasn't going to give her the option. I was giving her 1month to be moved out and some money to help. After some crying and begging on her end I am giving her one shot. I catch her one time. I just take her stuff to a storage building and I we are done.

Evilone, I read your post. ..You found her stash and quote you'll be dispensing them...What? So let's see you have become her dealer...you'll give her the pills...do you realize in a sense that makes you a dealer. ..just you don't receive money...what about getting a doctor involved...do you want to help her in recovery or do you want to just have control over her...

I don't want to be negative but I can assure you this type of plan will not work unless she wants to quit and is dedicated to do so. If not, she will find other ways to get pills again or she will quit temporarily and start again. I need a doctor or some sort of program is necessary to help change her mindset first and realize how much better she is when clean.

So far so good! I backed her off to 4 pills total per day and will be doing small dosage drops till the weekend. On the weekend we cut cold turkey. She has done it before.
