How Long Before Physical Wd Is Over??

Hi everyone- I joined here about 4 months ago, but failed my wd and taper and really never came back. I am now attempting again, but with a much bigger purpose. I found out a few weeks ago that I am pregnant and now going on 8 weeks pregnant. I was able to taper my pills off to 3 a day until I ran out and now I am about 32 hours cold turkey. I was pretty miserable today- with throwing up and the leg cramping. I was just wondering how long the leg pain and other symptoms tend to last???

Thanks in advance,
Cheryl
Hi Cheryl,

Congratulations on so many things! A new baby and giving up the pills. Both truly wonderful things.

Before I say anything, does your Dr. know about being pregnant and the pills? If not, you should speak with him. As for how long you'll feel bad, everyone is different. How much you take and for how long can have some impact. If you're on your 3rd day, you shouldn't have to many more really bad ones. Could the nausea be part of your pregnancy?

You'll need to be patient and let it run it's course. Stay as occupied as you can. It helps to keep your mind active and distracted. You'll get better incrementally. Some days are better then others. Just hang in there and don't give up.

Keep posting and best of luck,

Beck
Thank you so much for responding. I have not talked to my doctor about the pills yet , but plan to on my visit Wed. He does know I am pregnant though. I have been taking about 6 pills (10 325 hydro) a day for about 8 or 9 months now. Originally it started for back pain, but as many of us know it did not stay for that. I think the throwing up is mostly from bad timing. My 2 year old just got over the stomach flu and I had been taking care of her. I am thinking that is it's cause. I had no choice though about my w/d date though because I made a conscious choice to run out and not make it easy to get anymore. When the online company I used call to offer a refill I told them that I was pregnant and that way the took me off their list.

Hey Cheryl, congrats on the baby!! I think everyone experiences withdrawal differently. Personally, once I got past day 5, I was okay. The first 3 days are the worst for me. I was taking anywhere from 10 to 12 extra-strength Vicodin at day (750 mg). Good luck in your recovery....
Congratulations to you...for two new beginnings. After about 3 or 4 days you should feel a little better. tired though. Then again, you'll feel tired for a few months (being preggers). Once the physical wd is over...what a wonderful inspiration to stay clean when you feel your baby kick.
I know it's hard. But you can do it. And you'll feel so good when you do.
I'm praying for you (both). :)
Hi and glad you are back. Congrats on the decision to take back your life..not only for the health of your baby but you as well. This is a perfect opportunity to do it. Speak with your doctor and get a plan that's the most important thing. Then you need a plan. A real strong program to not only stop taking drugs but to keep from taking them and to never take them again. Think about what you will do next.

Everyone is different for w/d's...me well by the end w/d was hell on earth and lasted for weeks...but some recover fairly well within 7-10 days. I really think you should speak with your Doc first.

God bless you and your little one!
It's nice to see you back...hopefully you'll stick around and let us be part of your support system. That said, your dr really needs to know what's up. It could make the difference for a healthy pregnancy and baby.

The w/d's won't last forever. You'll probably feel pretty icky for awhile, morning sickness on top of it maybe? Just hang in there and know that it won't last forever, you are so worth it and so is that baby.

Welcome back, and Congrats on the new baby on the way.

I agree with the others, after about the 4th day or so, you should slowly start to feel better. It is a process, but it will happen, Promise.

Just take it easy, and before you know it, Your energy will come back.

Big Hugs.

Keep posting.
Good for you for tapering and then not ordering more. That was the first step for me, then I checked myself into detox. Be aware that those online pharmacies will continue to call...I have been sober since Sept and still recieve calls.

Before going to DT, I had quit twice on my own. I took the same amount of pills that you mention in your post, and the WD's were bad for about 4 days and were pretty much over in a week. I can't imagine being pregnant (I'm a dad, but trust me no man knows what you ladies go through!!) and wd'ing but you are DEFINITELY doing the right thing. The group here online helps, it can keep you honest and support you when needed. I would suggest that you talk to your doc asap, as there are some things you can take to make yourself more comfortable. For me, something for cramps and diarreah was key to my recovery. Describe you symptoms to your doc and they can decide how to address. Rember, just because we are addicts, we don't have to suffer. Good luck and let us know how you progress.
