How Long Do The Shakes Last

Hi, I'm new here.
I'm an alcoholic struggling to stop. I went on a massive bender last weekend, worse than usual, and when I went back to work on Tuesday I felt truly godawful. I was trembling and sweating and panicky and horrendously depressed, a feeling like the end of the world was about to happen, and every muscle in my body ached and had a tendency to cramp up if I flexed it. Every day this week I've tried to start drying out but ended up having a few ciders in the evening just as temporary relief. Now it's Friday and I feel a bit better, but I still have all these sysmptoms to a lesser degree. I know I should see a doctor and do things properly, but my main query is:

How long do these bloody shakes and the rest of the symptoms last?

Oh, also my liver aches when I do hard physical exercise - anyone else had that? Boy, am I a mess.

Bananaman.
First have you seen a doctor because you need to the liver thing needs checked............ The shakes for my husband lasted about a month but they were on and off...For about two weeks solid right after he quit.......Remember it takes a while for your body to heal it isnt going to do it overnight It didnt get sick overnight just try to stay calm and relax go buy some lavender candles and honestly take some baths they help just to calm you down...... Lavender oil in the bath helps to calm the body.......... Just remember that this is all part of the journey and no one ever dies from what you are feeling they die when they continue to drink...You are cleaning your body your healing and soon you will feel better and youll be clean sober and have a new life believe me it makes all the withdrawl worth it...........Try sleepytime tea too it works wonders!!!!!!!!!!

Love and prayers,
Jacque My husband drank sleepytime faithfully everynight when he was withdrawling!!!!!!!!!!!!! He now has 1 1/2 years clean and sober........I have 3 years in October..........

Bananaman. you should see a Doctor, coming off of alcohol is a serious withdrawal, it has all kinds of side effects, the doctor can give you meds to allieviate the WD.
Your liver is trying to get well you should not be doing anything that may cause pain.
Please go and see your Doctor.
