Hello all,
I have a friend that is a H addict. Really seems to want to get clean but can not handle the withdrawls at all. Not is any way shape or form. How does he get on suboxin without insurance or money to go to a rehab. He wants to quit but the withdrawls are all that is stopping him at this point. Can you get the pills just from a family doctor? Please help I'm running out of ways to help him.
Highly unlikely he will get off with no withdrawals, even with subs. So he can't tolerate some discomfort...guess his addiction is not uncomfortable enough yet.
Only a doc who has gone to a specialized training can prescribe subs...they are highly regulated and there are a certain number of prescribers per square mile or square km. An addiction specialist is the best bet, but most sub docs require cash up front due to the unreliability of addicts.
When he is ready, he will do whatever it takes to get clean, including going through the rattles of WDs. You cannot help him or do it for him...the best way for you to 'help' him at this point is to let him do it himself...let him find the way...let him decide that he is sick and tired of being sick and tired...and you take care of yourself. Support him, tell him you believe in him, tell him you'll stand by him while he tried to get through it all.
When people come here looking for help for someone else, that someone else is usually not ready to make a change....if he were, then he'd be here himself.
