I have a relative, he has been smoking crystal for six months straight non stop.
Now he is hearing voices and other noices, feeling his mobil move and so on.
I gave him options but won't take any to help him get better.
It started with an obsession for women and sex. Now the voices call him to look for them ??? and call him horrible things.
At midnight he goes out to look for them, has gone to neighbor's houses.
I fear that one day he might hurt someone or himself, if not end up in jail. I have done as much as I can, I am even getting tired of it.
Can any give me some advice from any experiences.
I wish there was some advice I could give you . Unfortunately if he is unwilling to admit he has a problem ....there is not really anything you can do .
In my opinion ..from what you have said ....He IS a danger to himself and possibly others . It is only a matter of time . You sound as though you are tired of trying and I dont blame you .....police and/or mental health can not and or wont help untill he screws up and gets arrested ....or seeks help on his own .
Maybe ....just Maybe you can convince him he needs to seek help . He needs it . Hearing voices and acting out on them compulsively is not only a dangerous side effect of the meth to him . It is a danger to everyone around him . or in his path .
You might try calling your local mental health and substance abuse hospital if you have one ....check in the phone book under local county govt.

My brother hears voices all the time... Its a scary thing. He will even get very angry at the voices and yell back. I know my neighbors must know something is up... He stands near there house and talks to the voices...and if anyone comes out to say something to him, he gets very angry. He is convinced he has a chip in his head or he is communicating with someone... He believes he was part of some governement project or somehting...I dont know.

Barbara, what state is this social Riverside system in? It would be nice to find a system and place that will make people get help, since they don't usually want to on their own.
I thought that if someone was a danger to themselves that they could be taken to a mental health facility and observed.
Thats what I would try, maybe when he has had a day or two without the meth he will see sense and get help.

Riverside is in California. East of Los Angeles. Also try looking into the Salvation Army for help. I know that the SA in Oakland, CA does a lot to help addicts with their additions. Good luck...

I didn't know poster was speaking about Riverside, Ca. I'll look into. it, thank you. I'm near L.A. and the court system in two cities has done nothing to help my daughter, but much to harm her. The young public defender gave her a letter I wrote confidentally to the judge and two days later our house burns down. Heavy user meth addicts are psychotic with angry delusions. She begged another court for drug testing after rehab but was always denied it. The first court I mentioned recently saw her walk into court twice in a drug stupor barely able to talk/walk, but no one said anything to her. The DA told me that no one wants prop 36 rehab because the jail time is so much shorter, and that the PD informs them of this, and then she laughed. I phoned the county jail and to my surprise was told by watch commander that drugs are very commonplace in there and come in through employees and volunteers and get to the courts through various means. County jail is releasing them for years at 1/3 of time for minor drug offenses, this time for my daughter it was 10 days instead of 60. I actually got my supeona after she was released. The Alhambra court I have had succes with, I guess it just depends where you live. If there are children involved, things all handled much better by the courts. Yes, Salvation Army is good, if addict will go. Meth addicts rarely want any outside help. It's even a stronger addiction than the very strong cocaine addiction.

my husband of 8 years has a problem and hes tried help before hes hearing voices thinking the police are after him and he can hear people talking thru the wall hes been bad before but not like this for the first time im scared of him he swears hes seeing me with other guys. im tired and i really want to walk should i be there for him or leave he told me if i leave him he will kill himself and even know that his coming down he still thinks theres a conspericy against him so if his not on s*** anymore why is he still acting like that im so comfused im not really sure what to do B
