I Have Failed As A Mother

As a mother of 2 sons(4 in total), I am at a loss right now. I begged my sons not to go to the methadone after abusing pain pills. But they didn't listen. Today I visited my 23 yr old son in the hospital. About a month ago he was incarcerated for a probation violation from 2009. He was on methadone. The hosp called Monday saying my son had been in intensive care for 4 days. Both lungs had collapsed. He was recovering but his mental state was an issue. Currently he is not in his right mind. I don't know what happened to him or if he will ever get better! Our government does nothing to stop or hinder young people from the perils of drugs! I need answers but from where! My 24 year old tried to hang himself two weeks ago after withdrawing from methadone. This is sick! Sick! Sick!

Hi Whyme, I,m no expert but I know your no failure as a mom. I,ve thought of myself like that too it's all part of the way we torture ourselves. Don't let yourself go there anymore. I'll tell you who has failed us is our government. Why can't they stop the drugs in this country? Put the drug dealers away for life, do something! They don't do enough. Help the addicts with something that works. Methadone is old. Get something newer made. You have come to a good place posting on here. Everyone on here hurts just like us. It's an outlet we need to say what's on our mind. Don't think you,ve failed anymore Whyme. Talk on here until your heart is content. We are all here to help you. God Bless. M.

Madm is right. Don't bully yourself. Your not a failure. Your a good mom. You raised your son's to the age of adults. That's a great job right there. If you didn't care about they're well being now while they are in this stage then maybe I would wonder why wouldn't you care. That's something a mother does when she's not a good mom. But you care, or else you wouldn't be here talking about it. So your no failure at all. Not in my eyes, my opinion. Keep posting.
