I Have Weird Lump Formations...

Greetings, folks...
I have weird lump thingies on the back of my neck. They are sore and hurt so much that they cause headaches. Did anyone else have this problem? Any input would be helpful.

Love,
Deirdre
I would get that checked ASAP.
My mom had lumps, and was dead within 5 months.

She died of cancer.
Dierdre...didn't you have cancer before? Are you recovered? You never let us know what happened?

Thumper, I will definately be getting your email soon. I am getting close; by next fall, I hope to be in the nursing program. I have lots of questions for you...and hope we can chat....
Could be anything from trigger points (no big deal) to cancer (very big deal)....go to the doctor.....today!
Thanks, guys for your kindness...
I went to the doctor today. He said since I had virulent strain of Mono a year back that the lumps are merely remainders of that Mono episode. I also found out that I tore muscles in my back. Ouch. I checked for cancer, but it is still in remission. Thanks, Littlebeach, Ali and everyone else for caring. It really means alot to me.

Love,
Deirdre
Deirdre, I'm late to the thread as usual, but just wanted to say that I think of you often and wish you all the best.

I am glad to hear you had it checked out - that would be very worrisome.....I didn't even think of the mono thing (lymph nodes are all over your neck) but that makes total sense.

Sending good vibes and all that stuff out your way.....

Sue...
I thank you for your good vibes. I need them about right now.

Love,
Deiirdre
Greetings...
I also found out that I tore the muscles in my back i am in excruciating pain, Talk to you soon.

Love,
Deirdre
Hope you're trying cold for the first 24-48 hours and then heat. The heat is very comforting. Also try pillows under your knees or laying on your side instead of your back. Put a pillow in place along your side so you can't roll onto your back again. Momentum has helped some for back pain. It has a mild muscle relaxer besides analgesic and is otc. Prayers coming your way.

Okay, thumps. I am off to school but will email you tonight.
Thank you!
Deidre,

If I were you I would seriously consider getting a 2nd opinion. My best friend's aunt's husband died several years ago. He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Her aunt actually noticed the lumps on his neck several months before he was diagnosed. He just kind of ignored them thinking it was swollen glands, strep, mono or something like that. Long story short he passed away 8 months after he was told he had it. He was such a great guy & he was only 37 years old. About 10 days after he passed away his dad was told he has the exact same thing and he is in remission. So if it is caught early it can be treated.

Get it checked out by someone else. Have some blood work done.
