Hey Vw, Rachel, Zac, Ginge, Idgie, Izzy, and many many others. I haven't been on the boards for a while. Just got back from a 7 day cruise and I am still sober I am proud to say. Spent every day in the spa when the rest of our group of 8 were at the pool bar or sports bar etc. I just went into it prepared and making a promise to myself that I wouldn't be the fun police. I was not and everyone had a great time. It was the very first vacation I have ever been on sober so that was a new experience. I did have a lot of fun even though I didn't think I would without the booze. I did notice that I wasn't in the club dancing til all hours of the night like past trips. Couldn't deal being around all the sloppy drunks. Too much temptation.
I hope all of you have been well and I hope to be back on a more regular basis.

Welcome back Val, and thanks for posting. Congradulations on staying sober in an environment where there was a lot of opportunity to drink. I know that is something I have to watch out for now that summer/beer drinking season is here. Your success motivates me.

Congratulations on the sober (that sounds too much like 'somber') trip! I did that last summer, although I didn't havethe net of AA to bounce my thougts off from. I haven't looked through this board to see if I was silently screaming but I will... It's amazing what is no longer important when you're clean, isn't it? Actually SEEING sights instead of looking at them through the bottom of a bottle, or watching the butmunches make fools of themselves, knowing exactly what they're going to be feeling and thinking in the morning? Suddenly you don't have nearly the sympathy for them because you KNOW it's preventable? Makes me want to scream, "You know... YOU CAN FIX THAT if you want!"
