I'm Going Away For A Week, Wish Me Luck

Hey:

As of tomorrow, wed 2-21 until wed 2-28, I'll be out of town. I'm house-sitting for a real estate broker that I used to work for. It's a half a million $ Townhouse in the Buckhead area of Atlanta. It will be a sacrifice - but for her, I'll TRY to stick it out. I don't know if shel'll be leaving her laptop so I may not be able to check in. I haven't been coming here long, but it has meant a lot to me, to read others trials and tribulations like me and having come out on the other side. Everyone is so supportive, non-judgemental, and positive. It has really helped me, it has got me thinking that oter support groups may be helpful too!!!!!! I just want to say Thanks to everyone - I'll miss ya'll, wish me luck and I'll be back in a week!
Good Luck Iola...be safe.
Good luck lola. Shantel
Have a great week and don't worry will be here when you get back.
Roxy
Good luck! We will miss you and your insight and your stories (I know it's only a week, but I'm bad with change *wink*)...

TTYS!

Bridget
Thanks everyone!

Soul Picnic - 2 questions if you don't mind. Are you in the medical profession? Just curious, you seem very knowledgable. Also, Soulpicnic - where did you get that? I like it, but it rings a small bell - have I heard it before? Regardless, I really like it. I know I've said this before, but I always like what you have to say & I usually agree with it. And I admire the way you've really thrown yourself into getting better. Your questions, i.e getting a sponsor, the 2nd & 3rd step, indicate to me how dedicated you are to getting better. It's very inspirational to me. May I ask what you're story is? What's your DOC. How long have you been in recovery? If you're not comfortable answering any of these, I understand - just know you're one of the people that I like to check to see what you have to say, it usually resonates with me. I hate leaving for a week! This forum has been so helpful to me, so supportive, so non-judgemental. I asked my friend (for whom I'm house-sitting) to please leave her lap-top so that I may continue to peruse this forum, but she'll probably have to take it with her. In which case, I'll be back on the 28th!
Lola,

Have fun housesitting. Gee, that''s roughing it... Buckhead, what a ghetto. LMAO! (Now you know I'm joking. My SIL used to live in Buckhead.)

I hope you have computer access.

Love,
Gina
Hey Gina!

Yeah, the slums of Buckhead! I'm actually a little excited, the townhouse is so cool, and oh the way she decorated it. Kind of France in the 20's or 30's with a bit of an asian flair. I hope she leave her laptop though. Not to sound like a moron - BUT, you said your sil used to live there? What does sil stand for? Remember, I'm not the most computer savey (sp) and this is the first chat line or message board I've ever been on. You're another one I always like to see what you have to say. You always say it well, are funny, and I usually agree with what you say. (But don't let it go to your head...kidding). You sound like you've been in recovery a long time. Is that the case? Do you go to 12 step meetings? What was your Doc - if I may ask. Again, this being my first time - I don't know if its against the rules to ask questions, if so, I apologize. Thanks again for your response!
Lola, I think Gina was saying her sister in law use to live there. I could be wrong though heck I just found out she is married to Bob. (LOL) Shantel

LMAO!

Lola,

You can ask any questions you like. Lord knows, Im never shy about asking.

SIL is sister-in-law (hence, MIL, FIL, BIL).

I used to go to meetings regularly but only for a short while early on, and have been to a few, as needed, since. I see a therapist on a regular basis sometimes more than twice a week as circumstances require. I think both are excellent avenues to recovery. (Meetings have the added advantage in being free of charge.) I dont think anyone should go through this alone. We all need F2F support.

My DOCs were percocet and pot, depending on what I could lay my hands on, but Ive also abused benzos and other opiates. Hey, Im an addict. Its coming up on two years clean for me.

If your friend doesnt leave her laptop, can you go to the library and get online from there? Her house sounds lovely. Have a blast!

Love,
Gina

Edited to say: Morning Shantel! Yeah, one time Poopie asked me to give her love to Bob. There are three Gina's on the board now and I'm the Chinese one.

P.S. Lola, two years is NOT a long time to be in recovery. Some of the folks in my group in NZ had fifteen years and they used to say, "The person with the longest clean time is the one who got up earliest this morning." All we have is today.
Gina, I am gonna start addressing you on this board as "not Bob's wife" I laughed when I saw that this morning because I read Bob's post last night. Shantel
Morning Shantel,

I got an email from a newcomer saying she was sorry to hear that Bob and I are getting divorced, so I thought I'd better issue a general disclaimer. LOL

Love,
Gina
