Watched a special this morning on origins of ice cream and how all the different types came to be. They claimed that the reason ice cream is universally loved, and especially in America, is because it increases our seratonin! So here's to ice cream for everyone!
I had a big bowl of strawberry icecream last night with cream poured over it.~! It's awesome!
I believe it. I get a very real, physical comfort from ice cream and chocolate. Without planning it, I have noticed that ice cream replaced a glass of wine, at that certain time of the day when it's finally time to sit down and unwind. I cannot be upset half way through a pint of Ben & Jerry's Chubby Hubby. It's so good and it totally relaxes me. I was eating it every night until my a** grew out of my pants, now it's once a week, but something I look forward to. There is no way that taste alone makes me love ice cream and chocolate so much. It has to be the emotional or physical pleasure.
Ive always found ice cream to be a soothing treat - didnt realize it was because it was upping my seratonin!
Was a very interesting show - husband was watching it and I thought (boring as his taste in tv usually is lol) then I started watching and it was interesting how we evolved from ice, to hard, to smooth, to cheap, to expensive, to flavors, etc. After the supermarkets came out with cheap ice cream - a gallon for $1.99, the smaller places like Dairy Queen, lost sales. So then some genius decides to go the other way and create a very expensive ice cream - Haagen Daaz. The promo was "for those who want the BEST". Then the supermarkets banned Ben and Jerrys as a threat to Pillsbury and its ice cream products, so Ben and Jerry started a campaign "what is the Pillsbury dough boy afraid of". Its all in the marketing lol thats for sure. But the clincher for me was the seratonin comment. And it makes sense. Has anyone NOT felt good after ice cream?
